Could you guys please help me decide what tires to purchase. My truck is a 02 2500 quad cab, stick. it came with Michalens 265-16. Had coopers last. Still not happy with choices. Get about 35,000 per set. What do you guys think? Do not tow much. Toyo m/t?

I Have had very good results with michelin LTX M/X tires. Tried one set of Toyo's they didn't last as long for me. I usually get 60k + out of the M/X's

I will be the bad guy here and tell you what some of the more senior members will tell you. I mean no disrespect from me but there is thread after thread on tires if you go on the search feature you will find all the info you would could need. however I will offer my suggestion I had toyo M55 as my last set NOT ONE FLAT only lasted 35000 miles or so Hard heavy driving towing. I went to toyo i think AT 285 the salesman said they would last 10000 more miles than the last set and they were cheaper than the M55 so that is my suggestion. and do a search

good luck

I have used Michelin's on a lot of vehicles including my 35 foot 5er. What I am currently using Michelin XPS but they unfortunately are only available in a narrower size 235's. Bottom line I don't think you can go wrong for Michelin's.

hello again

also put some info in your signature about your truck so members will have some insight into your truck and your needs
again good luck

Do you people getting such poor mileage out of tires towing a lot?

I tow only occasionally, but I'm getting twice the mileage on a set of tires. At $800 a set, plus mounting and balancing you're pushing a grand almost every year 2 years. Ouch.

After a long hard search I was between the Hankook RF 10's and the Toyo's heavy service HT's, couldn't get the Hankook's so I went with the Toyo HT's, very happy with them so far with heavy towing, 15k on them and they hardly look worn, solid outer edge which is good against a 4x4 cupping

YO Tbone man

yes I tow heave either my fiver or a cabover camper in or attached to my truck.
I do mostly secondary back roads and my toyo m55s endured the HAUL road Dalton highway with the camper and a trailer and with the 35000 miles or so not one flat.
very happy with the preformance and life. ALASKA roads are not very forgiving to tires.
I now run toyo MT and it is more like 1300 dollars every 3 years. Still very happy

Have A great day

Michelin LTX M/S Load Range E -

Have had two sets on my 2500 and they lasted about 90k miles each. Towing about 1/4 of the time. Last set was dry rotting when replaced. Cost was about $0. 01/mile.

Had three sets on my 3500 and they lasted about 155k miles each. Towing 1/2 of the time. Lot of highway miles. Cost was about $0. 01/mile (dually).

Currently have these cheap S Korean tires on my 2500. Needed some cheap tires at the time and let tire dealer talk me into these. He told me they were made in USA, but later noticed that they were not. They have been surprisingly pretty good as far as traction. Ride is not as good as with the Michelins, but is okay. I don't expect to get high miles out of these tires, but they should last about 30k miles based on wear so far. Cost was about $500. Will have to see how the cost/mile turns out when they get worn out.

Im due for tires shortly. Im stumped as to what brand to get. I was thinking toyo mts because they lave load range E . or the toyo open country ht with tuff duty geared for diesels n heavy towing . I want a good ride but a lil bit of a tire that looks n functions well in mud snow and whatever else comes along

This is more in line with what I'm seeing. I replaced my OEM Mich. at about 70,000 only because I had a big tow to Florida (1,800 miles) and didn't want to have an issue. Two of the replacements (same OEM Mich tire) have 76,000 on them. I had a major hole in one, so I bought two new ones, use them on the rear and the old ones on the front.

One caveat. I use a set of BFGoodrich TKO's in the winter. Even these have 66,000 miles on them. I admit I need to invest in some new tires (both summer and winter tires), but I certainly wouldn't want to be replacing these every other year.

Haven't seen Hercules brand tires mentioned but I bought a set of these 2 years ago and have been impressed... wear is good and so is the ride.

Bridgestone REVO's. I am on my second set, got 70,000mi on the first. Quite on the road, good traction in the mud, load rated E for plenty of carrying capacity.

BFG anything! this is my 5th set. I am currently running the mud terrain KM2. I they are awesome. They are even good in the rain. Believe me. Down here in south Florida, we have rain and mud like not many other states. Not a mountain in sight :(. . Your not going to see 70,000 plus with a mud terrain though. Michelin is the parent company of BFG, so you know it is good stuff. Good luck

I have the procomp at , love them. I got 46,000 and still more room. the fronts wore a little funny, but it was my fault, I didn't catch the wheel bearings fast enough. now i have to do all the steering linkage, before I buy a new set. the only thing i didn't like, and it may be normal is that the inside side walls show a little bit of checking. I don't drive the truck much. mostly weekends and vacations, and maybe not every weekend.

the procomps are good in the snow, rain, on the beach and the road. blows away the BFG's I used to run on a Bronco.

Next set is going to be a set of goodyear Duratrac, though. ONLY because of the weight rating.
