KC, check out Michelin LTX M/S on the "Tire Rack.com" web site. They have owner ratings on most of the tires they carry. These are some of the highest rated. You can also look at other brands and their ratings for comparison. Good luck

Michelin XPS traction

I love my Michelin XPS traction. They look and ride awesome!! I will see here shortly how well they handle the snow.

I have experience with both BFG AT and Michelin LTX/MS. BFGs on my previous CTD, and Michelins on my new one. The All Terrain's are far better than the LTS/MS's. And, NO... the Michelins are not better in off road, mud, sand, or snow conditions. To put everything in perspective... the BFGs will dig a hole, the Michelins will spin on top of the ground where you have a little spot with no grass. Now look at the tires and judge for yourself. My $. 02 worth... .

I have had Mud King XT's, Sport King AT's, Wild Country (AT), and BFG (MT and AT) on various rigs over the years and the BFG MT's are my favorite by far, especially the newly designed ones with the sidewall lugs. I am one year and 10,000 road miles into a 32 x 11. 5 BFG MT set on my '86 CJ7 and I could not be happier. Road manners and wood manners are good. Now if you want street tires get street tires, if you want mud bog tires, get some mud boggers, but if you want a tire that will perform and wear well on and off road get you some BFG MT's. As a bonus, they look damn good too!

Please let us know what they are like in the snow. I have had the BFG/AT's and the LTX/MS. I am interested in what that Big bad commerical tire will do in the snow It might be my next tire. My new truck came with the Goodyear AP's, I think I'm going to have to park my truck when it snows and drive my wifes Landcruiser

Picked up "Four Wheeler" magazine a week ago and it has an article in it about snow tires. (Whether AT's or MT's are the way to go, etc. ) Contains some general information about tread design, siping, tire size, etc. , and which type/design/size tire they found best for the snow after a little road test. I can't put my hands on the magazine right now, but it must be the December issue, it has a big 6x6 Dodge Beastly Truck on the cover. Might be worth a read before you drop $500 plus on "snow" tires.

LTX/MS

I bought them for treadwear, traction & the fact they are Michelins, i. e. quality after research here on the TDR.



Then I talked to a Hummer test driver & racer. As you know, Hummer is in with BFG. In a tire test on a Hummer over sand, rock, desert, mud & river, he had to back out of the LTX/MS's to keep them from beating the BFG All Terrain Muds! A tricky thing to do with the BFG rep's watching & listening.



Then I saw the LTX/MS's on his truck. Oo.

I finally bought some Nitto's Terra Grapplers AT in 265/75-R16E, I hope they are good in snow as it is snowing here as I type this!
