Check with Aero Tank. They advertise that they will build a custom tank. Probably already have done so for others with your same short bed truck.

I've looked at these in the past, but with my shortbed to longbed conversion I have absolutely no idea if it would fit, but I'm leaning towards it would not, at least without some improvising.

You can also move your tanks vent to a higher spot on the tank and gain 3 gallons, diesel doesn't expand as much as gasoline so you won't have an issue if you do this mod.

How do you do that?

Just an external vent line?

Or does the tank need to be lowered?

Yeah, you would have to drop the tank, use same vent line, just put a new fitting in the higher part of the tank. There is a thread on it either on this site or "the other site", if you know what I mean.

I have the RDS gravity feed kit and if I let it drain overnight I'll have at least 3 gallons more in the primary tank. I'll close the aux tank valve and it takes about 80 miles before the needle starts moving off of full. The OEM vent line is up behind the top of fill neck and I didn't do anything with that. I'm sure there's a rollover valve or two on the tank itself. I'd rather not let it stay that full without an air gap in the tank so I usually shut off the feed before it gets that full (when I remember). Haven't had any issues though.

I would love to do this but for the money it doesn't make sense for me. I had a 90 gallon RDS in my old 04 and it was nice on long trips, but I missed having the whole 8 feet of the bed for my quad.

Moving the vent still will leave an air gap, just not as large of one. This wouldn't be a mod for a gas truck, just a diesel.

I haven't run through a tank yet. As far as having the computer reprogrammed to properly show the distance to empty, I have not.

The fuel guage works by showing full until the fuel drops to the level that the guage operates in. Once there, it reads relative just like the stock tank.

I don't see a need to make a separate trip to the dealer for a reprogram of the fuel tank capacity (if it's even possible) but may ask if the truck needs to go in for a recall or service.

Is there a total length available? I'm thinking this might fit in my short bed if I relocate the DEF tank.
