Here I am

To all vets...

Thanks, TDR Staff
The "welcome back" started in the last few years. Sort of a tongue in cheek response to the Gulf War vets rousing welcome from the general public, not that they don't deserve it. The bus that took us into Oakland Army Terminal in 1967 was spit on, but I never was. We were required to wear a class A uniform to get the military discount on commercial flights. While in the SF airport we were just ignored. What really makes me bitter is congress chipping away at vet benefits, probably because most of them have never worn a uniform. Strangely enough, there are a lot of baby boomers among them. Coincidence?

How many on this thread have made the military a career? Past, present or future. I have since 78 and am retiring this October.

Hit 20 this Sept

Just signed up for 4 more. My wife retires in Aug after 25 years of service.

Both of us are in the AF.

My pap served in WWI in the Navy and my dad did 2 tours in Nam with the Army, he was a tunnel rat. Still can't talk about it.

I am very proud to continue the family tradition.

My brother also did 4 years in th AF back in 90-94.

Thanks to all that have served and those that serve.

Doug
