I have a 92 with the 518 auto, what would it take and how much would it cost to upgrade the transmission to handle 650 ft lbs of torque reliably?

Bill Kondolay. Seriously! He'll do a profile on your intended usage, upgrades, driving style etc. and recommend a custom tuned system for you. I'm headed out to get mine done ASAP. I also have the A518.

I have posted a query on the DTT website rea the 518 auto in my 93 but have not recieved any reply from Bill K as yet. Check their web-site for info as many questiones have already been asked/answered.

The 518 weakness is the OD unit. Otherwise it's basicqally a rock-solid 727. I had to add a Transgo shift kit and a Transgo OD lube correction kit to mine. So far so good. The lube kit involved reaming the oil passage to the rear-bearing larger and boosting pump pressure. The shop that did mine gave up on the reaming after breaking a few DRILL BITS!!! I should have done it myslef!!! If I had it to do over, I'd keep the 727 and add a Gear Vendors OD unit!
