I just installed my new Power Edge EZ on Thursday. What a big difference it made.

My question is, what does installing the boost elbow Edge provides do for my performance? I know it allows my boost to go past the stock limits, but what will higher boost give me? More power? Will the EGT's go up or down with it on?

They say it's optional to add it. Is everybody putting it on?

Thanks.

Chris

i put my stock elbow back in!! this limits my boost to about 24 pounds. with the performance elbow, i could see up to 44 psi of boost. here is the reason: i was seeing extremely high EGT's with normal driving and especially accelerating or going up hills not to mention towing or hauling. i was also experiencing a very "flat" top end. the truck would rev to the red line, but after about 2400rpm didn't not feel like it was making any power. after some consideration, it seemed that these two conditions would be caused by running the engine with too lean of a fuel mixture. by reducing the boost pressure this would effectively let the engine not have as much air. in effect this would richen the fuel mixture. the results have been dramatic, with the lower boost pressure, i have controllable EGT's, awesome power clear up to 3400rpm and don't blow off hoses on the intercooler. surprisingly there is still no smoke either, even when running in the 50% mode.

I have the new boost elbow in place in my truck. I saw ~24 psi before, and now 30-31 psi with it. EGTs are lower, at least some. I didn't feel the big SOTP improvement that some said I would feel.

I say try it. If you have strange problems like jkern did (which is very odd), then put the stock one back. It only takes about five minutes to install or remove.
