Hello

I am very unhappy today 4th lift pump in 57000 miles!!

do you guys who have traded the 2gen in for the new 2004 340/600 have any input for me are you happy with the new trucks???

I love my 99 plenty of HP/tq but tired of lift pumps and steering problems.

yes I have the DSS for the steering. and every one says FASS but some FASS installers I have talked to says that the electric motors are failing as well.

Well what do you guys think to 2004 or not to 2004 that is the question

thank you in advance

i am very partial to the 2nds gens, however, imo, just go to DTT, get their mechanical pump, and be done with it! call dtt up, or give www.massdiesel.com a call up--scott will set you straight on what you need.

Try posting this in the 3rd gen area and see what kind of responses you get (assuming you haven't already).

Just a thought...

Stick with a 2nd Gen... Reasons as follows:

Less electronics on the engine = less complication later

Thicker body

Non-hydroformed frame

Good loud diesel sound

Proven injection system compared with new one

Better (Dana) axles, easy to find parts for them

Better on an 04-

Comfortable factor, very comfy

Stronger Bed.....

Now its up to you

The 04's do not generally get as good mileage as 24v 2nd Gen, which don't generally get as good mileage as 12v. I think I see a pattern here.

The 24v 2nd gen and the 3rd gen have more and more retarded cam timing. They're going to be really stupid soon. :D
