Bombing a 4BT

4B or 6B

Guys, I've been longing for a 4BT conversion in a mid 80's 1/2 ton, 4X4 for a while now. Reading about the efforts here are not helping my resolve to not tackle another project I don't have time to finish.

Well, this conversion interest caused me to stop and check on a 95 std cab, 5spd, 2whl dr. CTD in a horse pasture the other day.

I found a truck with 125k miles that hit a tree just right of center, bent the frame, wiped out the aftercooler, radiator, grill ect. The wrecker service pulled the truck into a treelimb breaking the windshield and rain has been getting into the interior for a year now.

But it runs, will move under it's own power (however not driveable) and is complete.

I can buy it for $3500.

I'm open to suggestions, or might consider acting as a agent if anyone else is interested.

I'll try to put up a few photo's next week.

Thanks for the price info, not a lot of easy information on salvage truck pricing.

I'll check with the guy and try and talk him down a bit.

stacerbob, sounds like you got a deal on your truck. Did it require extensive repairs, don't tell us you bought a driver for that amount. Please. ;) .

I'm in south-central AR. about 20 miles SE of the little town of Sheridan.

Mine was pulling a trailer like a little debbie snack trailer and got rear ended, popped the ball off wiped out the bed and tweaked the frame in the rear but yes I did drive it around for about 45-50 days before I finally took it apart. I bought it just for the front cap +coolers and sold the rest.

I am about 20 miles from MO line North of Batesville.

i would say if u get it down to 3000 or maybe even 2500 since its been there for a year now it would be a steal for a conversion!!! since its a 5spd right? its got a dana 80! plus a 5spd that would be nice and the CTD with only 125k on it!! i would say it would be worth every penny for a conversion! i bought my 93 4x4 wrecked for 3500 and fixed it and i bought my 91 4x4 for 3250 so if u could get it for 3000 for a conversion it would be a well worth it!! in my opioion?

Further info.....

Hey Moparguy.....

Any further information on pricing of this '95 donor CTD? I've been looking for a 4x4 "roll-over" w/ a fairly straight frame. I agree w/ a slightly lower price... ... this one might be a steal.

Is it still available?

Tim "KEENO" Keen :D

Well, just as I decided to take a pass, the guy comes down to $2,700. Guess it's time to make a decision.

Story is he had the accident with no insurance on the turck, so had to make payments on a non-driver.

$2700 did u say $2700???????????? if u r even considering a conversion or something u r crazy not to buy it for $2700 the engine it worth that if not more!! plus u have a 5spd and a dana 80! buy buy buy buy buy buy buy buy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:D i think that is a steal!!
