Trail Rite Trailers

My best friend works in the parts department at the dealership where we are getting our new 5th wheel. He called this morning to say they have an extra Mor/ryde pin box that they want to get rid of. His boss said he would give it to me at cost and install it when the trailer arrives. I've never complained about how my last trailer towed and I have not towed this trailer yet to see if it has any issues. They are definitly not trying to pressure me into buying extra stuff but I am always the first guy on their list when they find it laying around the shop so they are looking for an answer sooner rather than later. Just to be clear, I am not out shopping for pin box modifications, this just fell into my lap this morning. The question is, for $450, is this a deal too good to pass up or should I just save my money.

If you've got the extra money laying around, then go for it!

That's a great price... even more so if they install it.

You could probably even sell it used for what you'll pay for it.

I am not familiar with and have not experienced the Mor/Ryde pin box but have significant experience with the Demco kingpin which cushions out the chucking back and forth movement common when towing fifthwheel trailers over some roadways. The Demco does make towing more comfortable and I assume the Mor/Ryde product does also.

It's not a critical need but nice to have. For $450 installed it's not a bad choice. Your money, your call.

I paid 900+ for mine and installed it myself, it does work on those California thump thump roads. Feels a little weird at first, when you take off, you feel the trailer catching up with you.

Well I decided to make a quick trip down to the dealer and check it out. The unit is brand new and still in the box. After talking with some of the drivers that are moving the units all the time they said they love pulling the units with the Mor ryde and they love it even better than the Airborne equipped units (NOT starting a debate or a fight, JUST relaying what the drivers were telling me!!) I decided to go for it. As stated above, I can always pull it off and sell it for what I bought it for. Here comes the good part of my day. While checking the lot to see if my old 5er had sold, guess what I see pulling in...

I didn't think it was mine because the outside was stamped with the all weather package which I regretably did not order, but when they checked the numbers, it actually was mine. Guess maybe they are now just putting that package on as standard equipment.

My buddy is going to let me prep the unit. Saves him one guy labor and I get to go through everything myself. I will maybe get to do that Wednesday and pick it up on Thursday. Going to get 2 6V batteries for it, unless those more experienced think I will need 4. We don't go dry camping very often and there is an on board generator.

Yes it will let you trailer ride easer and will not beat your trailer a part. I wished I had put one on my trailer when I got it also lets the truck ride better. Also all you will need for BAT is 2 heavy trolling Bat for your new trailer 105 cranking amps or heaver. Nice looking trailer. how heavy is it?? == GOOD LUCK ==

Thanks. I do think it is a good looking trailer. They now have different color schemes that I wish were there when I ordered but at least it is not pastels on the inside. Black is more my color. More pics to follow once I pick it up. It is heavy. Stated weight is about 14500 dry with a max of 18,000. I will get to a scale at some point to find out exactly. I figure I plan on only two batteries for now. If I plan on doing extended dry camping, usually at NASCAR, I would probably bring my Honda 3000 generator anyway. Assuming it is quieter than the onan that is on this one.

Thats a good deal - - grab it before he changes his mind - - you will be very happy with the MorRyde unit. The difference in the ride will be significant. Next purchase should be a BrakeMax

I did grab it and I already have a Max Brake. I fixed my sig. The next on the list is a Goerend TC and VB upgrade. I had transmission issues at 50K and after talking with Craig, I checked to see what was exactly done to fix it then. It appears that they actually installed a reman transmission at that time so now I only have about 20K on this one which means I shouldn't need a complete Goerend and can get by fine with just a few parts (~4000 savings. ) I'm thinking that shortly the wife is going to want to divorce me. I just use her saying... BUT IT'S ON SALE!

Do you have an exhaust brake? An exhaust brake is probably the single best improvement anyone can make to a Cummins powered Dodge Ram, particularly one that will tow a heavy trailer.
