I felt the Chrysler warranty was way over-priced and didn't feel like giving the finance guy a commission, so I bought a warranty through my bank. It's 5yr/100K manufacturer wrap, meaning they cover anything the factory doesn't, bumper to bumper. It cost $680 and I'm not stuck using the dealership service dept. Like Chrysler, it's new or re-mann'd parts.
I figured one problem with the new electronics and the warranty would likely pay for itself.

Beware, if you get the extended warranty and do your own repairs/maintenance...you could be headed for a potential problem.
If they cant see in the puter, or you cant provide receipts, you can be DENIED repair.
This has been a PSA....:D

More than what you will ever hear about on the forums.Happy customers only tell close friends, unhappy tell everybody-just a fact. The truck has many systems not just the engine that most shops will not be able to deal with. Our shop has a good amount of business from independant shops.

Bob, you have to admit that most dealers will pay there sales force big money but want the service people to make minimum wage. In lots of places its not if you are good at what you do, its can we get someone else to wear the uniform for less money. They learn that in college.

Bob V, You have a point all big business works that way. That being said the aftermarket contract companies will send out an inspector to look at the vehicle trying to find a way out of paying a claim.Buyer beware and there is no such thing as bumper to bumper from anybody-read the samll print

Yes, Lots of small print. I read one contract and it did NOT cover any parts "subject to wear". That's just about any part on a vehicle that moves. Even the 3 year 36,000 bumper to bumper does NOT cover brake pads and clutch lining. I know one person that the insurer would only authorize USED parts. If you wanted a new/rebuilt parts you had to pay the difference. Its that way with the collision repair now too. If they can save $1.00 using an USED tail light the will only pay for the used tail light. If you want new it will be up to you. Like I said before if there wasn't a profit to be made, they wouldn't be selling them, a majority of the population will NOT get back what they put in.

Wifes 2012 Town & Country has developed a .....wait for it..... ROOF LEAK!
It's not yet out of factory warranty, so theyre fixing it.

Yep, I had the same results on my wife's Honda. It was a waste of money. If we purchase another Honda or Toyota, we won't buy the extended warranty, but owning a car from Chrysler, Ford, or GM the results would probably be different.

Bill

Same here on our Honda Pilot. Never used it. Next vehicle is going to have a timing chain replacing timing belts on Honda V-6's isn't cheap. I've been told the Toyota V-6's of this era(2005) had chains.

Try a Credit Union

I have purchased extended warranties on three vehicles from my credit union. They are typically several hundred less than the dealer's warranty and are accepted by all dealers and ASE-certified shops. I have had LS rear ends rebuilt, widow regulators replaced, engine components replaced, air conditioner evaps replaced, etc. If the vehicle is still in factory warranty I have been able to get "named exclusion" warranty which is essentially equivalent to the OEM bumper-to-bumper. If out of warranty or you want to limit costs, they have a "named coverage" warranty which only covers the things they say it does.

As a point of reference, for my 2013 2500 CTD 4x4 with 22k on the clock, 5 year (from warranty purchase) or 100k total miles on truck, was just under $2300.

I got Camperman's warrantee also. But mine was more expensive becyear of the somewhat unproven DEF/SC system. I think .

In 2 years, I've put 17,000 miles on it. So I'm doing only 8500 miles a year.

Shouldn't reach max miles before max years at this rate.

Advantage Dodge in Phoenix AZ , and Browing Dodge in Norco Ca has the Chrysler maximum care 7yr 100k no decucable for 2550.00 I've heard the cost of this warranty is 2546.00 not sure how true it is but it's a start. I know Ron paid 2650.00 for the same warranty over at Auto Nation in Seattle. ..
