Well actually I guess that really isn't the question, because I think i've made up my mind that after my transmission revamp i will be adding injectors. My question is for towing... . which i do quite frequently (~1000 miles a week) towing around 8k-10k which injectors should I go with? I have the Van Aaken box which i am totally happy with and will be buying a boost module to run the injectors. I was thinking about just doing the 275RV injectors but the consensus seemed to be that they wouldn't make that big of a difference for me. So that brings me to a stage 2 injector ala the DDII, however from the limited amount of information i could find about people using DDII's with the VA box it seems that they make ALOT of smoke, which really doesn't bother me, but it does seem wasteful. A shop here in town also told me that such a combo would have me at too high of EGT's pulling hills with the weight that I do. So there kind of seems to be a Catch-22 here. I am also wondering what kind of difference 40 hp (which is what the 275's will add right?) will give me towing... right now towing up 6 and 7 percent grades with my load i get sucked down to 40 to 45 mph... . i want to be able to do 55 or more... will 40 horses give me that or am I gonna need to go bigger? Y'all experiences and insights would be greatly appreciated.

I can't answer all your questions but can tell you that with my mach 2's I can tow my travel trailer which weights about 6500lb no problems. I turn the comp box to off or maybe level 1 or 2 for flat ground. I was using RV275's and was not real impressed, the power over stock injectors seemed mild. The difference between the 275's and the mach 2's is real noticable. EGT's are OK when towing so long as I don't let the engine lug. I thought 275's would be good because they are cheap. That did not work out cheap since I ran them for about three weeks and then ordered the mach 2's!

Just to give you something to compare with, I have an 01, 2500 quad-cab short bed 4x4, HO w/6-spd. With an Edge EZ, 275's, 3. 55's and 285x75Rx16 tires, I can pull a 9,000lbs load from CampVerde to Flagstaff and not drop below 72mph w/cruise set at 75. Boost max. was 32psi, EGT's was at 950 post turbo, water temp 195, trans. temp 180. The load was a 6,000lbs pickup on a 3,000lbs bumper pull trailer, fairly low profile. With a high profile load, like a travel trailer or toy hauler, the performance would be less. The hills are 6-percent. Once you get to 6-percent grades, one more percent makes a big difference. You mentioned 7-percent, that will drop performance even more. With this same load, I dropped in to CampVerde from the south, also 6-percent for several miles in 6th with e-brake on at 65mph. When I am running empty, I wish I had gotten larger injectors, but when towing, it is nice to hammer down with no temp. issues. I am the kinda guy that would have trouble backing out of it if a Power Stroke was chasing me up the hill :) Hope this helps a little.

I have the Van Aaken box with edm mach 1. 5's. I am in the exact same boat as you as far as towing a lot. I have a stock turbo and tow anything and everything all over the western states. I have seen 1250* on the pyro once, but I can keep it at 1125* pulling the major grades around here. So far, with 10,000 lbs on, going up the grapevine, I slowed to 65mph, pyro at 1150* and boost at 33psi.

I have a 99 3500 with the va box and 275 injectors and a stock turbo. I do tow alot always around 10,000 lbs or more and i have no problems with egt's the injectors dont smoke much more than stock either. They gave me about a 40 hp gain which was alright but now i want more and i have a set of dd2's on the way. I plan to run a boost elbow on my turbo to bump it up a bit until i get a new turbo. I will let you know how the combo works out for me. Sorry I cant give you any info abut pulling a good grade as i live in Florida most i have here is a freeway onramp.

He has a 2000 truck though. Do they have the 9cm hy35? If he does I think he would get too hot with DD2's. I had 2's in my truck with a VA and egt's were fine (1200) but I have the hx. Might want\need exhaust and intake mods too.

I have an EZ with Mach 1. 5's on my 02 with an auto trans. While I don't tow much I did haul a bobcat with a few accessories and couldn't get the EGT's over 1200. No smoke to speak of but lots more power over the stock injectors. I would recommend them without hesitation.
