I'm tossing around the idea of moving to Alaska... can anyone give me links to job search sites, or companies looking to hire an experienced (7+ years) driver with tank, hazmat, and doubles endorsements?

Thanks in advance

BigEasy,

Don't want to discourage you but jobs up here for anyone except white coller workers is only so so. Truck drivers don't make the best here. But there are quite a few trucking outfits up here. Alaska West is one, Carlile, Big State Logistics, Black Gold, lynden,Weaver Brothers are a few. Alot of the trucking outfits drive the haul road to the North Slope. Also there is the gold mine up here (Fort Knox) that hires all the time. Then there is the Pogo Gold mine but don't know about their hiring prospects. Just get online and look up classified in the Anchorage Daily Times, Fairbanks News Miner. That should give you some leads

Well Warren beat me to it.

I know Northern Routes Trans Inc needed drivers very badly to run the AlCan. I was running with the senior driver back in March on my last trip north. They had four stranded rigs in AK (drivers took them north and decided that the AlCan was too much for them & flew home).

One note, if & when the natural gas pipeline goes in, drivers, operators & many other skilled workers will be in high demand.

Another couple outfits in AK. Span Alaska, Airland Trans.

Thanks guys... I just found out that the owner of the company that I work for has sold his shares to the Sec/Treas of the corp and a consultant that we have been working with for a few years. Things are good, and I'm not going anywhere now. I was afraid that we were about to be sold to a large national company, Kenan-Advantage Group, and was going to bail out before it got ugly.

My future's so bright, I gotta wear shades!

Thats ok BigEasy, you probably wouldn't like it up here. It was minus 14 when I came down off of the hill this morning in town. (Fairbanks) And its only the beginning of November. Brrrrrrrrrrrrr! Give me Phoenix's winter weather any day! :)
