Hey guys/or Gals, My daughter lives near Freeman, MO (near KC)and just burned up the Fuel solenoid on her 96, the garage person wants $400 + for the part #5016244AA. Anyone know a good Cummins garage or parts house near there? Is that the going price for one? I'm up here in SE WA and can't help much from here. I Know there are some out there that take advantage of women in distress, she has had it happen before. Any help will be appreciated.

It would be a VERY good idea to change the starter contacts at this time. That may have caused the fuel solenoid to burn up. Also the fuel solenoid relay since it may have been the culpret.

Toasted Solenoid

Thats interesting! How can the starter have anything to do with the Fuel solenoid, what relation do they have? But that is when the smoke came when she tried to start it. She just called and said that NAPA cross referenced the number and came up with a replacement for around $37. 00, thats a real big difference from $400. If it will really do the job.

Thanks for the reply. Bob

They show up on e-bay fairly regularly . I thought there was one on there now , but it may have recently ended . Doesn't really help in an emergency , but you can get a real reasonable price on one there .
