Well this afternoon it died 4 times then nothing. Had to be towed home 3 km's. When it was dieing it finally puked out blue smoke. THis was a rarity. So the local Cumins shop won't take the truck because it is under 5500 kg's. So the local dog shops have the business to change the pump ( If that is waht it is. ) I have to lookup the different injections pumps.

So please give me the lowdown on the different pumps to look at !

So here goes another $4000. 00 on this junk. :{

Do you know what the fuel pressure is? How long has it been since the filter has been changed?

I'd start with the easy stuf first.

I see the VA PNP in your sig. Try unplugging it, cleaning that connection, and restart without the box (plug the pump in stock). May have to bleed air. Also, for fun, put in a new fuel relay, or at least try swapping it with another one from the fuse box. Is there a Check Engine light? Thats similar to the death of my PNP. Good luck! Its frustrating but chin-up!, no other trucks are this fun.

Just a crazy idea but maybe your fuel return line to the tank is plugged or kinked.

I know if this happens it causes crazy high return line pressures that in turn refuse to let the timing advance.

I read your sig and the dyno#s in it and I assume that you've put in at least 1 new injection pump.

Just a thought.
