If I recall the book calls for 1/16-1/8 inch measured at the rim bead at the same height front to back. the old trucks were easy you could use a stiff tape measure. That's also the same measure ment that the new 08 and newer steering system.
 
thanks for the reply my book only shows the spec in degrees. is there one measurement that works better than the other ? or just pick 1/16 or 1/18
 
If you can be real accurate, the closer you get to dead ahead straight without toeing out, the better. So I would say 1/16th.

All depends on how loose your kingpins and bushings are. If everything is nice and tight then 1/16 should work. Set it and watch your tire wear and how the truck tracks. Wondering and feathering of the inside of the tires is a sign that you don't have enough toe in. Feathering on the outside is normal for our trucks. But heavy feathering is a sign that you have too much toe in. If you look at my truck you'll see some feathering on both inside andslightly heaver on the out side normal wear.
