OK guys - does anybody have a recommendation for a NEW TOILET that REALLY - and I mean REALLY works? I saw a TV show about a year ago, - I FORGOT THE BRAND - and they showed how a certain toilet was made and the important thing was how fantastic it flushed. They used the standard ball that toilets must flush, but they showed how their toilet was twice that good and shouldn't ever clog. Mine now, I must flush and hold down the handle and hope it does the job. Well I need some recommendations and getting an old one isn't in the cards.

hammersley, I take care of the maintanance at my UPS building and we retro fitted to low flow toilets. We used the same type as homes use other than ours had the elongated bowls. The first one they put in was a disaster... multi flush and still clogged. The clowns at work use a ton of paper and you know the rest. The plumber came back and suggested the pressure tank style. Inside the tank is a pressure tank that holds the 2 gallon requirement under pressure. When you flush, it goes all the way!!! The only drawback is they are a little noisy when they flush. They aren't nearly as noisy as the higher pressure type that has no tank like those in stores, schools, ect. If I had to re fit my house,(I still have the five gallon types), I would use these pressure types. I believe that the ones that we used were American standard. Happy flushing!!Oo. Chris

hammersley, your close enough to the border, you can still buy the big flushers in Canada, and its leagal, if its for personal use. (as in, you can't buy and distribute them) I've done it, and will continue to as long as I can, then I'll havta start takin' them with me when I move. :D

Ever thought about adding bran to your diet?:p

Seriously, I would recommend the pressure assist toilet described above. They are a little noisy, but they do work great.

When I finish my basement bathroom, that's the kind I'm gonna install. The kind that, when I flush, the house will draw a vacuum, the windows will bow in, the ground will shake, and the neighbors will complain. I want the kind you can flush an entire cow through with one flush. That's my ideal toilet.

Footrests, did I mention footrests?

(I've given this alot of thought. Can you tell?)

Forget the toilet, how about a high flow shower head and valve????

Gene, I drill out the restrictors. Works pretty good. :D

The last shower hear I did will hurt you if you open the valves all the way. :D

Plumbers love people who buy new toilets and they take the old ones and clean them up and sell them at a premium because they WORK.

incenerator toilet:eek: ever seen one? I installed a septic and leach field for a guy up in the mountains that finally hit water, he had a incenerator toilet , you dodoed in a plastic bag and then there was a hatch to let it fall below, then when you got enough dodoes in there you would flip it to the fire off or light off mode... ... ... ... ... . OK Martha we have a fire in there so dont be sitting on the HOT SEAT:eek: ... ... ... ... ... ... OK George but when it gets done you gotta empty the ashes... ... ..... go spread em on the garden again too so we can grow the record tomatos at the fair this year... ... ... ... ... ... ... Martha this here incenerator toilet is nice ... ... . I like it alot but it sure is different when I drink too much and puke in there:{ , the sound of the puke hitting the plactic just aint the same:-laf :-laf :-laf

BaWhoosh!!

I like the pressure tank one, I think I will buy a couple for my house.

What ever you get, buy the elongated bowl. Porcelain is always cold.

Last ones I looked at, seemed pretty weak to be drilling, but I will try it!!

I've got a Kohler

They're around $250 at Lowes. It's in the swirl man. We had a flush problem at the farm house and replaced a cheapo toilet with the Kohler (dunno the model #) and wound up digging out the concrete floor to find a screwdriver in the line.

When I bought this house, it had no "water closet". I was so impressed with the design and function and price of the Kohler that I put the same model in here. Now I have lots of experience with it. And can say that, although I'm way too regular to really challenge it, it does a great single-flush job.

A girlfriend once stuffed it with paper (I HOPE:eek:)) and that is the only time it has been plunged.

Nothin like a functional throne. Oo.
