Since your a dealer you have the inside scoop on all this stuff. I remember that my original dealer said that Dodge had something coming down the road that would blow the doors off Ford and GM in the 4500/5500 class. I figure he was just blowing some hot air to keep me interested and not look at Ford.

So come on ... whats the deal? Spill your guts ... I don't want to be waiting a year or two for nothing but empty promisses from Dodge.

Where are you hearing this??

4500/5500 4x4 gvw above 17000-21000

For sale in the U. S. A.

sold by Dodge not Mercedes?

few (test) models ,seen in another country.

I would think the other parties to the 22+ year old agreement, for Dodge not to build for domestic sale in this class. Will be very happy to get back into this profitable market.

infact they are now offering an '04 in the very top of the no CDL needed realm.

Also had offered slightly smaller model 4-5 years back.

Who will break the deal first?

Can't locate my press release ('77-'79)of the deal, for specifics so possible it was for 25 years???

Remember anything larger from Dodge since then?

I wouldn't hold my breath..... it would require them to build another factory to produce... Sorry, as much as I'd love to see it happen, I don't think its very likely.

I think the hold-up on the cab-chassis is the fact that the plant is at/near capacity building the pickups. Last year, all CTD HD's were built in Mexico, I believe this year some of them are now being built in St. Louis because Mexico has been running at capacity. Just my SWAG.

Also, dealers are typically the LAST ones to know about new products. Sad but true...

wow, I almost missed this post...

On last word I have heard absolutely nothing, I think april 1st we should know something... KEEP IN MIND. . they kept the Chrysler "M. E. 4-12" a TOTAL secret until the autoshow... so just because no one has leaked this juicy info, don't give up hope

Supposedly Dodge made a factory a D-50 that had a full-sized crewcab (not like the new 4 door quad cabs we have right now), dually pickup. Was sold in S. America or some other country, but not in the States. There was a picture of it in the magazine I had read.

Can't verify it though. For all I know, it was a conversion that they played up, or were suckered with.

OK guys, let's get this back on the subject. I took out the antagonistic posts so we can start all over back on track. If it's not about a heavier duty Ram or something related, keep it out of here.

It's No Rumor

Sorry,

That's all I can say... ... Talk to the sheet metal guys as they know what is going on and there is something coming. Late 06 or 07 model year.

psst... ..... "DH"

Late '06 or '07 huh ... maybe has something to due with the Cummins contract running out??????? How big is the MBE900?

Could this be a reason for a complete remodel change 2500 - 5500?

If that might happen ... I would not want to be a guinee-pig for them ... this would push me to purchase Ford or maybe a small International in 2006 ... damm! My old '97 won't last forever.

That's all you can say ??? Well we have ways to make you talk.

All i can say is dodge better not let go of cummins. If they do i am willing to bet alot of money cummins will then go to ford and just completely dominate... .

After owning this truck for just a little while I am sold on the Cummins motor. I would buy whatever truck has a Cummins in it. I'm Cummins loyal not brand loyal.

So am I, so am I. That is why I am desperate to see Dodge come out with a 5500 series in the VERY near future. I really really do not want to go with a F550 in 2006, but I may have to if Dodge does not come through. The key is payload, not just towing for me. I just can't see a 2 / 3 yrd. dump body on a current Dodge 3500 ... you would only be able to put a yrd or dirt (if that) before you would be over the payload limit.

The word I hear is 2006 model year at the earliest. Zetchse, who has Freightliner experience, said he didn't want them out until we could offer a full line all the way to at least Class 5. It is more likely 2007.

If you look at the picture and imagine it without the grill or the body below the headlights, and the mirrors and flares it looks exactly like a 2nd gen body, at least that's what I see.

This photo was taken back in 2000. From what I remember they are built and sold in Mexico.

I can see it now, 5500 with air ride a 9spd, engine brake and 6in stacks... ... ... ... . yea right... .
