I called the dealership today to check on a megacab.

And the receptionist told me that you are no longer with the company. :--) WTF :{ What happened? Oo.

Good for TG!

Hopefully it will give him a day job with holidays and weekends off. I know how hard the car business can be on a family.

Plus, it will give him more time to play with his truck!

well what can I say, I got the offer and was not about to pass up a salary and day hours...

First things first - This means that I will be able to attend ALOT more shows that were on saturday, etc - I am looking forward to IRP this year!! woo-hoo!

Secondly, (the good news) I still maintain the "newdodgeorder.com" website and I can still sell new trucks at the previous discounted price. Do I work there? no. Can I still authorize a price? sure can! (and I promise it will be upheld) And I still have all the pw's to get into all the good dealer sites. Some of which I could not legally post about before, But now, well... I dont have to follow dodge's rules now ;)

Once I get through training at CitiGroup, I will be posting more active on here agin... I have like 3 weeks of training still, and no desk/computer yet.

I miss not being involved, etc

Till then!

You hit the nail on the head, no more late nights and NO MORE SATURDAYS!!!!!!!!!!!!

And my wife and I are planning on a child (baby-bomber) within the next 2-3 years, So I though now was a good time to get out. Nine years I was at Dodge - seems like just yesterday I was learning how to buff/wax/wash new cars for delivery... 1/3 of my life, yikes!

Citigun?

Well - ditto that (the best of luck with your new position)!

Even for those of us who did not purchase a truck from Tom

(due to distance) his prices DID make a difference!

Probably POed some local dealers [LOL].

Thanks for all your help!

JC in CA

PS: For the forum guys - could have been lots worse . . .

one of those "other" brands might have lured him away . . . !!

There are other brands? I thought Dodge and Cummins made the ONLY REAL TRUCK. I knew my Dad did a bad thing by raising me a DODGE nut. :-laf -Jason

way to go TG... I know the feeling of night shift and well im having to work my second christmas in a row, i don't have a wife or kids but do have nephews and well it sure as hell ain't worth it, nor the stress of working all night when i should be sleeping, im not part hoot owl either LMAO...

Good for you TG, wish you the best on the new job and the new hrs of rest and relaxation.

Sometimes you just need a change right ;) I hope it all works out for you Tom and perhaps someday when I'm in your neck of the woods I'll stop and congradulate you personally. Best wishes and happy holidays.

I was offered a job a while back at a local Dodge dealer after knowing more about these trucks than the manager at the place. If I ever decide to take that plunge (right now it seems sooner than later), I would try to set some discount pricing in So. California for TDR guys.

Well see what happen...

Hey T,

I worked at a Jeep dealership for 16 years I was sales manager for the last 5 years. Talk about a thankless job. I have been in insurance now for 4 years. Never got 2 days off in a row unless it was vacation, if you get vacation. I missed all of my family functions and trips. I was married for the last 10 years of my auto career and with kids it just doesn't work. I now get to go to all the games and we go camping alot and I have the weekends to work on my truck and Jeeps.

If you are like me the only thing you'll miss is the comradary with all the guys.

That was about the toughest thing to give up. You know what I mean, all the hanging out together gets everyone pretty close.

Congratulations and good luck.

you are 100% correct, spend 10hrs a day with the same people, and they are like family. I still stop by to check my emails and send quotes - So I didnt go cold-turkey, but it still hard to re-make all the relationships...

BUT, I am much more happy with the hours and effect is having on my marriage (in a good way ;) )
