Was going to do the tone ring mod the other day. I put the truck in 4L blocked the wheels and put on the emergency brake. It either slipped the clutch or something cause I could turn the engine without without loosening the bolts. Are they left hand threads? Would a standard air wrench loosen them without breaking the air wrench or smashing your knuckles when appling torque.

the bolts are regular right hand threads. you put it in too low a gear, you were trying to drive the truck forward in the blocks, leave it in high and put the transmission in 5th. in low range 1st gear you probably could turn the crank multiple turns before you even noticed that it is moving. Mine was moving with the parking brake set in 2H and 1st gear! if you put 90Ft/lbs on the crank (about what the bolts are supposed to be) you will have roughly 1080ft/lbs @ the wheels thru the gears!
