Brake Issue on Fifth Wheel

I want to replace the tongue jack (?) on my tt. The trailer came with a 1000lb jack when it was new 30 years ago. Is that big enough ? Or do I need to go with a 2000lb jack ?

1000 Lbs should be way more than you need, after all, that's what it was engineered with. There's no way you have 1000 Lbs on it, right?

Thats my thought. The rv place sold me a 2000lb jack, they said it would be better (makes some sense) But the tube wont fit thru the bottom hole on the tongue. They told me I should just grind it out (dont think I want to do that). Just wanted some opinions before I take it back and exchange for the 1k jack.

Simple way to make the hole larger. Drill proper side hole in a pc of plywood with hole saw. Clamp plywood over hole centering it on the too small hole. Then drill it out and file edges and paint raw metal.

The way things get rated I wouldn’t hesitate going bigger.
