Unlock front wheels 4 Wheel drive low range

I have a 32 foot gooseneck horse trailer. the entire trailer weighs about 14000 without horses. The tongue weight onto the pickup is around 4500 lbs. I am pulling it with a 03 3500 6/speed single tire. Am I way over the limits of my pickup. Anybody else pulling trailers with that kind of weight on the pickup. What problems am I going to encounter.

Might have to get a dually , I pull 16k with 11. 5 on rear axles. Single tires are e-rated I presume. Rear axle weight is about 3500 only leaves a little bit for weight on the ball.

Can you tell me what the difference is between the rating of the dually and the single tire. My understanding is that the rating from dodge is the same for both the single tire and duallly, in reguards to gross axle weight and cargo weight. I understand that stability increases using the dually and the tires will not get as hot because the weight is distributed over 4 tires. Thanks for your reply, I am trying to get any info I can.

My father-in-law just bought a Mega-cab dually to pull his 36' Gooseneck horse trailer. It weighs around 17. 000 loaded up.

I have not yet driven it, but he says it handles it way better then his SRW truck. He towed the trailer home 125 miles and I had already suggested he get a dually. On his way home with the trailer he called me and asked if I knew where he could get a dually that weekend.

I used to haul heavy with a 3/4 ton. I thought I didn't need the training wheels either. I bought a dually as it was just 400. 00 more than the single wheel 3500. There is a world of difference. I can't imagine that much pin weight with a single wheel truck. He may need to just hook a dually to the trailer and he can see the difference for himself.

I PERSONALLY pull as much as 37,000 gcvw weight with both of my single wheel trucks i have weighed as hi as ten thousand on the pin i really love the way the 01 handles it i used to hate disk brakes till i got this truck but i find i have no trouble stopping loads even if i need to make an emergency stop. would i like a dually you bet that extra wheel realy makes a diifrence on the trucks i have driven i would really like to trade for dually mega cab with the eight foot bed conversion

I too pull about 14-15k loaded horse trailer. Beefed up 2500 . I have the "G" series Goodyears on the rear. Makes a big difference. I would love to have a 3500 dually but it is not in the cards at this time.
