I have a 04. 5 lwb. I need a bed cover that I can roll up or fold up so that I can haul large item when I need to but, also have a dry storage area for suitcases electric tools and such. Any suggestions. I have looked through other threads on tonneau covers but, noone really addresses the issue of keeping items dry.

Thanks in advance,

Jeff

I have the MOPAR version of the FOLD-A-COVER unit. It has four section the back three can be opened and stacked on the front most fourth section giving you about 6 ft of open bed. The front most section can be opened seperate from the other three sections.

I've had 3 EXTANG tonneau covers on different trucks and all have kept the bed dry. They are very well made and I would recomend the to anyone. Look at the classic model.

I have the "truxedo" low profile roll up, very nice and from what I have seen and heard, it is better than the lightrider roll up.

I have the Extang RT. Low profile and works great with my bed rails. Took about 20 minutes to install and rolls up for a completely open bed.

I've had soft Tonneaus on my last two trucks... I think one Lund and one dee zee or something like that. I can't remember for sure. Both nice covers, but a real PITA some times, especially when cold. I went with a Pace Edwards roll top cover this time and I love it! It is far more secure and seems to be leak proof. A big thumbs up on this one. The only downside I see is that you end up with the "box" in the front of the bed that everything rolls into.

Lockability

The ability to lock it was a concern. Also the ability to fold it up out of the way on zero notice.

I ended up with an Advance Fold-A-Cover from Drvinylusa.com.

I love it because I can fold it forward and snap it down for pulling horses, disconnect when I get to the campsite/show and it provides dry storage for hay. The lockability is important because I've often got a couple of baitcasting rods in the back. Cloth tonneaus that snap can be tough to snap in the cold, and the velcro and snaps eventually show wear/snaps break.

I had an Access on my '98, sold it to a neighbor when I got my '03. It is still like new and he's happy with it. I put a Truxedo low profile on my '03 and it keeps things dry.

I have the stock cover that Dodge sells. Came with the truck. It's a canvas material. Nice looking but after the first heavy rain the bows collapsed.

I have the Extang RT. Low profile and works great with my bed rails. Took about 20 minutes to install and rolls up for a completely open bed.

I'll second that on the RT. I have one, and it's a good product.

Access the way to go!

Jeff, I have the Access Limited roll-up tonneau. It has worked perfectly and is guaranteed for the life of the truck. It keeps stuff dry (O. K. , a drop or two gets in under the corners when the truck is being pressure washed, but that's all) and rolls up and down easily.

Access is made by Agricover, but just type "Access tonneau" in a search engine and you will find plenty of distributors. Agricover even recommends one product to keep the tonneau looking sharp year after year. I have 45,000 miles on my truck and the tonneau looks good as new. I wouldn't have anything else.

I have this Pace Edwards Cover Also... . It occupies a good 13-4 inches in the front of the bed... not good if you need the full bed size ever.

Access tonneau

Jeff, email me privately and I will send you photos of the Access tonneau. It's guaranteed to hold up under whatever snowload falls on it. I'd hate to see you make a mistake but I'm not willing to get into an argument with someone who bought another brand. Ultimately, the choice is yours, which is the way it should be.

The lite-rider cover that Geno's sells is made by Agri-Cover who also makes the Access cover - http://www.accesscover.com/ . It is a GREAT tonneau cover. By far the best cover I have ever owned. I used it through all last winter with no problems with snow and for the first time ever I had a soft tonneau that I could actually take off during the winter and get it back on before spring. It takes seconds to roll up and put back down, etc. After owning one I wouldn't ever consider a different brand of cover period - and I've owned a bunch of em.
