Been thinking of purchasing a tonneau cover. I pull a 5th wheel some in the summer so I want one that is convienent to get off and on. Also should be easy to get into so I can retrieve items from my tool box for towing old broke down Power Strokes ect. If any one has had good experences or bad, I would appreciate a response. I am considering a Access Roll-Up Cover. They look like the best thing I've seen, but they are a little pricey at $500. 00

I would appreciate any input.

Thanks

I have a Truxedo tonneau cover (check the link in my sig). I am very happy with it. I too wanted a tonneau, but wanted convience as well, and the Pace Edwards is nice but a little spendy, IMO. I paid under $400 for my Truxedo.

Sur-Co, the comapny that makes the Truxedo, has a very similar cover that they offer for less money. It is called the Truck Hyde and it's about $100 less. The diffference is the Truxedo has a lifetime warranty and automatic tensioners to keep the cover tight regardless off the temp.

JohnE (I think thats who it was) was going to install an Access tonneau cover. It is very similar to the Truxedo. Maybe he will comment. Access also has a less expensive cover. It is called the Lite-Rider and Genos sells it. There was a member in the last two weeks who installed one, hopefully he will see this thread.

I went with the Truxedo because I believe it to be a better cover than the Acceess, but I'm sure the differences, if even a noticable, are less significant than I think.

I can post some pics of mine tomorrow if you'd like

Yep! Nope!

I was all set to get an Access cover and then decided to get an ESPAR first.

The Truxedo and Truck Hyde are nice products and offer the same convenience of a roll up. I prefer the Access or LiteRider for a single feature. Both models have a sloped extrusion where the hook & loop (Velcro) fastener is attached. It makes it a bit easier to open and close if you have bed rails. Both companies offer short models to fit your bed with a tool box installed if you want to keep the toolbox, too. My plan is for a rail mount tool box and cover.

$500. 00 is a bit steep. Local shops here offer LiteRider around $325 - $350 installed. My boss got a Truck Hyde on his Ram for around $325 installed. Access Covers are around $425 - $450 installed. I never priced a Truxedo.

IMO you cannot go wrong with a soft cover.

I have the Pace Edwards and yes they are a little spendy but worth it. The nice thing is the security they offer. Make sure if you have a 5th wheel hitch installed that it will clear it in the closed position.

The access works great. The material seems to be more temperature stable than the cover I had previous,( with the bars. )

I went with a truxedo, $399. 00. I have stainless bed caps on my truck and when I got the cover home it would not fit. Called truxedo for suggestions. They made a custom fit one for me at no cost and it fits great.

Thanks

Thanks for the input, I,ve decided on the Truxedo after visiting the web site. The lifetime warrenty made the choice rather easy.

Thanks again,

From what I have seen with the truxedo, the access has a much better snap locking bar and release button. Keeps tarp nice and tight also has the fine tuning adjustments.

You can fine tune the Truxedo as well, but after you get it adjusted, you won't have to worry about it. The automatic tensioners will keep the cover tight regardless of temperature.

You might want to take a look at the Addbrook web site:

http://www.adbrookcovers.com/

I have used one both with and without my 5th wheel for a year now and have had no problems. The real advantage is that when hooked up to the camper the bed is covered and you can carry your lawn chairs in the bed with out having to hose them off when you go to use them. Nothing gets blown out of the bed because you forgot to tie, wedge or weight it down either. The velcro has withstood having a cap on and off several times. Long bed in black is about $350. 00.
