Tonneau Cover

I want a Tonneau cover for my 3G short bed. After doing a bit of research, I find myself overwhelmed by the amount of choices out there. My gawd... there is brand after brand after brand out there.



Who has one installed on your truck?? Any recommendations on what to buy? Pics??

Don't know if they make them for the 3rd gens, but I have a Deflecta Shield hard tonneau on my 97. Fit and finish were very good, install was easy, but you do have to drill holes in the bed rails. Only negative thing I have to say about it is both sides are not keyed the same.



I have the Mopar Performance soft tonneau on the 99 (the one that raises like a trunk lid), and I love that cover. Its a bit pricey and it doesn't lock, but its a quality job.

I had an Extang Classic on my last truck. It lasted really well, was economical, but a pain to cover/uncover.



I have the Truxedo on my CTD and really love it. It looks great, takes no time at all to cover/uncover and has the best warranty in the business. Shop around. I got mine from a guy that sells them on Ebay and got a great deal.

I have the Mopar tonneau cover. Not the "factory" one, but the one that has the fabric similiar to that of a convertable top. It has a grooved rail that the cover just snaps into. It is very easy to remove and reinstall if you desire, the price was around $350. I would buy the exact same unit again and recommend it.

I want a hard fiberglass cover and I've narrowed it down to 2. Either the SnugLid from SnugTop or the XL1000 something from Gaylord's. Price on the Gaylord's is around 800 and I don't know the price for the SnugTop. They sell those local and I need to inquire.

I have an over-the-rail RhinoLiner installation, there is absolutely no effect on the functionality of either. The mounting rails are attached by (6) clamps and the whole arrangement can be easily removed for whatever reason that you might have. There are 4 aluminum bows that keep the cover tight and these are also easily removed and the cover can be rolled up and secured by (2) Velcro straps to facilitate use of the bed. The rear rail can also be removed whileyou tow (a fiver) and put over the louvered tailgate for use when not using the trailer.

i have and extang classic tool box mount cover. butts up to my box and cover rest of bed. seals well no flapping sounds and very few leaks. snaps and bows are a pain sometimes but really on get moved when i pull the gooseneck.

I just installed an Access Ltd Edition cover on my truck, and really like it. The cover is top notch. When rolling it up the bows or supports roll up with the cover, thus elimating the need to store them or loosing them. I bought it thru RealTruck.com. Check them out.

I just bought a Fold-A-Cover tonneau. After having a fiberglass-type, the folding cover is much more versital. The question to ask yourself is whether you'll be hauling any large items on a regular basis. If you do, you'll find removing and re-installing a fiberglass cover to be a pain.

I got a lite-rider roll up cover ( http://216.167.41.9/CoastalData/showdetl.cfm?&DID=30&Product_ID=1092&CATID=1 ) from genos garage this summer. I believe the truxedo uses the same mechanism. It's by far the best tonneau I've ever had. Rolls away and back out real easy. Takes all of 10 seconds to open or close it. The stays roll up with the cover. There's adjustments at the front to adjust for shrinkage in winter months or to tighten it in summer months. I've had lots of covers over the years and all of the snap style covers were useless in winter - once you took it off you couldn't get it back on until spring. After owning this style I wouldn't even consider a different one.

We've a hard fiberglass tonneau cover on our 04. It's a "lo-rider" which, I think is made by Raider. It was $943 with tax installed. Not too terribly bad, but still enough to make me shiver. The Snugtops were around $1100 locally priced.



We're happy with it.

My son has a Mopar "gull-wing" tonneau on his '03 red sb Hemi sport 4wd. It really looks sharp and is very well made.

It is great as long as you don't have to move a refrigerator. I would hate take that off and put it back on very often.

Had a Access roll up on my '98 Dodge. Really liked it and the price was right. Been thinking of getting one for my '03 but if I win the lottery I'd like one of the electric roll ups... can't think of the brand name at the moment.

Just installed the Access roll up on my truck Saturday and it was really simple to install and had a real nice fit to it. The best thing is I will be able to put my topper back on when needed without taking the rails off, just the cover will need to be removed, only 2 bolts. My wife was complaining of problems seeing out through the topper windows. Gave me a good exuse to add another accessory to my truck That will teach her not to complain about my truck... ... . now if I could just get her to let me drive it!



Now a question. I decided to cover the rail holes with some Putco pop up tie downs. Anyone have any experience with these things?

Putco pop up tie downs?? Never heard of them . Sounds interesting though. I'm interested. Where do you find these?
