Sounds like the shop is full of people that are not too bright. The noise filter is a legit fix and has worked for many of us. Tell those clowns working on your truck that a couple of your "internet" buddies could fix that rig in a couple hours :p Resetting the APPS is also a legit fix as well. I have a list that Dave G sent me and never got past those two items cause they did the trick. Sorry you got stuck with Yahoos fixing your truck :(

Tell them that this Internet site has more knowledge on it with us than they're whole shop will ever have... ... ... ..... meanwhile you don't have your truck and you're dealing with a closed minded shop that's willing to chase everything else, a simple electrical noise filter whooooooooo scary:eek: !!! Give me a break! Should tell them that your gonna post the name of this wonderful shop on our unknowledgeable site... ... ... .....

I would take the truck outta there with the answers they're giving you... ... ... ... ... ... ...

sooooooooo,

i talked to DTT for a while today, and they are positive that the noise filter is it... . i ordered one and it should be here tuesday... . found the TSB on it and called the shop... so they are waiting for that..... had it reflashed today but i have got no word yet... DTT said to flash it for heck of it, can't hurt, but to do the noise filter regaurdless..... so i'm waiting.....

Thax to you all, i hope this goes smooth, i can't wait to hash out the final price.....

first we must fix it ... .....

Bartman... ... ... ... ... :)

Bartman i don't wanna stick my nose in where it doesn't belong, but... ... .

Why in the hell are they trying to charge you 4 grand for a transmission?? What is inside of it that makes it 4 grand? In my eyes that's horse ... . DTT, ATS, and other quality builders are more, but YOU GET ALOT MORE... .....

Myself i think they're hozing you..... worse part it's probably a dry hozin, bad, bad, bad.

Anyhow demand they tell you

1. what kind of parts did they put inside?

2. what kind of VB is it ?

3. Either take the APPS (accelerator pedal position sensor, also known as TPS) off and put the old back on or you will not pay their mis-diagnosis, ESPECIALLY since they were so negative about trying to take the "internet's" advice and reset the new part.

4. What kind of Torque Converter ?

5. DO NOT LET THEM INSTALL THE NOISE FILTER, THEY WILL F THAT UP TOO.

6. Print this off so they can read it, and reply to each and every last question, as thorough as possible, or they will not get payment until the court magistrate says you owe them.

7. I'm willing to bet it's a factory rebuild from chrysler, you were money ahead to go with DTT from the beginning. BUT who can predict the future?

Sorry to be stern or an a-hole, it's your money, do with it how you please. The above is a list that i would most certainly ask of the transmission shop.

Good Luck

the shop does not want to listen to me, say they need to do there own procedures and that baiscly they don't need help from the internet.....

When the noise filter does the trick be sure to tell them you got your fix from this unknowledgeable internet site... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... .....

I too would demand to know what's inside this trans- and demand the old APPS back! Did you get the stocker trans pan with this trans?????

My opinion with the answers they gave you back throughout your dealings with them- your getting hosed. :{ :{ :{

And by resetting the APPS, this procedure has worked for a good number of my friends and myself personally, and if that didn't work the noise filter did!

Last night my good friend stopped by with the same complaint of locking and unlocking and the trans feeling like it's kicking and bucking- I took it for a spin and came back and did the reset procedure-

and it worked.

Fear not guys... nobodys nose is in the wrong spot...

All i know at this moment is that I have a "pro-touqe" convertor, ever hear of this company???

I have a buddie who is a marine elec, so he is installing my noise filter when it gets here.

I do feel like i'm getting a touch hosed, but at the same time i guess they have to follow their procedures????

I have talked to the manager and basicly when it gets fixed we will go from there..... i definitly have them eating some crow, and i'm sure all they want is for me to be happy in the long run. . i could have my old trans back in, or keep new one, i don't know about tps????

All a fella wants is a piece of mind... i would give my left one to have bought a NV4500... i just want to know that my truck is up for coal-burning duty!!!!! :D

noise filter should be here tuesday, i look forward to updateing you all with my findings...

Again, I CANNOT thank you all enough. it's soooo good to hear others who know where i am comeing from and want to help me... this has been and is SUCH a nightmare... soooo much $$$. i get so excited to come home and see what advice my friend have bestowed upon me!!!!!!!! :)

I set them straight with the "internet guys" seeing we have all the answers, they have had none... . :p

Thax again!! Bartman

Bartman#1- I would ask them to print you out WHAT THIS transmission COMES WITH!! Pro Torque? I don't think anyone here uses them... ... ... ... ...

This burns me up to know there are shops out there like this!!

Seriously- Find out what your paying for before you lay out any greenbacks!!

I wonder if they even tried the reset method in the first place?

And for them to be on their heels in this matter worries me- what- do they lack confidence?

I would have them reinstall the old transmission and then head to a custom transmission builder like DTT or other of your choice. Rebuilding a transmission to stock is not a good investment for your hard earned dollars. SNOKING

so heres the update... .

After reflashing the truck the sliping went away.

i got the noise filter in the mail yesterday and called them up to take it to them and the shop said they wanted me to drive it cause they thoght they fixed it.

it seems to go good,i have not gone far but it shifts awsome. haven't put the noise filter on yet cause im doing it myself!! but the problem is gone already. . i'll put it on just because i think... can't hurt right????

Guess i got a deal, they are going to charge me 3200$ for the trans and eat the week of labor/flash/fuid/tow/extended warrty/etc... .

i'm giving her a few day "test run" to see if it's all good...

old trans had tons of material in the pan..... proabaly cause i drove it for 3 weeks waiting for new trans.....

so far so good... . still sucks... $$$$

thax for all info guys, im happy to have my truck back.....

Bartman

So you got a new stock transmission for 3200. Not that good a deal, so you still have a stock transmission. SNOKING

No it's not stock, it has a billet low stall convetor, new valve body, external filter pump, huge finned pan, extra overdrive packs, i guess i don't know all the part#s but i have a list of everything that has been done, it's just still with all the paperwork over there. .

Said they had biult the same trans for truck pull truck... it just had not had elec problems beforehand...

Shifts like it's stout, holds in gear good...

what makes it not "stock" what else should be done???

I do appreciate all the info and advice. without you all i would still be waiting for them... i'ts just nice to have my truck back...

Bartman...

The reflash makes the truck less sensitive to the signal "spikes" caused by noise. The filter removes the "spikes". So your right, install the filter, it won't hurt.

I had similar problems with my 98. 5 3500 a while back. I was sure that the trans was about to fall out on the road. I talked with DTT, they were very helpfull, said they would like to sell me one of their trans, but did not think that it would fix the problem that I was having.

He told me to clean the battery terminals, take apart every plug on every wiring harness and flush them out with switch cleaner and blow the out with air, then put them back together with di electric silicone. He also told me to take off every ground strap and clean under them and scratch the paint off the frame where they go. If you look at the overboard engine breather, it is right in line with the big gang plug on the trans, when I washed out that plug, I got some real nasty crud out of it.

Long story short, I did what he said and it fixxed my problem. I was ready to buy a trans, and he saved me a ton of money, I am now about 12,000 miles down the road, and have not had anymore trouble from it. When I do need a new trans, I WILL buy it from DTT.

Bill is the man! You just have to like a guy that will help anyone no matter where there transmission has been in the past. But to be honest, it is more than just Bill, there is a whole family up there along with a few almost family types. Everytime I drive my truck now, I think, why couldn't DC have built it this way. DC should make him a multi millionaire and have him spend a few months teaching them about their transmission. Then they could all be off to the track with the race car and play. SNOKING

The steps DTT gave you are what anyone with strange problems should perform. The 'computer' is very sensitive to electrical noise and ground loops. This problem can start happening after about 4-5 years, sooner in wet climate. When I did this to my truck I replaced the sheet metal screws at the grounds with stainless. The factory screws we very badly rusted.

Many dollars are wasted on parts not needed. Alot of the time replacing a part fixes the problem because electrical connections were 'repaired' by unplug/plug of a connector. This procedure should be the first thing you do when intermittent or really strange things happen on any computer controlled vehicle. The connectors are the weak link and there to make manufacture easier.
