too busy???

I am not impressed with all the messages about the server being too busy when I go to look at a post or somthing now. . . . whats the deal. . not enough band width or something?? anyone else getting these messages?. . Jim

Everyone is getting the message from time to time. When you change the software with the information of this "size" it is not as simple as flip a switch and away we go. There are prgramming bugs and the performance aspect of it has changed because of the different type of software. Anytime you have a software upgrade of some nature like this (not jsut TDR) expect it to be a few days to a couple of weeks for things to be "Tweaked and tuned" for optimal performance. If you read the "Announcement" that is listed in everyforum (at the top of the thread listings) then you will see there are some performance issues. Yes the messages "Server too busy" are frustrating, but we will all just have to be a little patient while things are adjusted to make them better.



I would allowcate a week or two before everything is running smoothly. With the new features, did you know how to "operate" all of them instantly? No its a learning process and the same holds true for the forum software. We went from one tpye of software to a completely different type, so the "adminstrator" is learning the same as we are.



And yes it was tested before hand... ... . I don't remeber exactly but I know its been in the works for close to 2 months.

I have been working with computer systems since 1983. Upgrades never go as smooth as the sales people promote.



They will get the "bugs" worked out and we will all be happy for it. Anyhow, you are getting a tremendous bargain for your $35.

Sometimes new software can be a real pain to get to work right in spite of a lot of testing. I don't know how you would run a mass test of internet software. That's not my field, but I have been working as a programmer and application designer for over 35 years. Recently we had to shelve a new project because the performance was so poor. It really looked good until I ran a few mass tests. Fell on it's face under heavy load. I really hope that's not the case here.



I'm trying to keep Ken advised on any problems I fall over so he can add them to his to do stack.



There is also Murphy's Law at work here. The first user to try a new application will try something that does not work. Happens every time.
