Engine/Transmission (1998.5 - 2002) Question ??

hey everyone,

i am the owner of the 99 truck in my sig. my question has to do with the fact that the truck has 185,000 miles on it, and i would like a little extra power out of it. i was thinking maybe an edge ez and some 275 injectors. do you guys think it has too many miles to begin modding? also, can the 275 injectors just be put on without any fueling enhancements (such as an edge). any input is appreciated

I bought my '01 with 158,000 miles and started upgrading around 169,000. Put on a homemade intake, 5 inch single stack, Edge Comp, and just put on 150 hp injectors 3 days ago. I have not had any problems... yet. However, I bought the injectors from a buddy who blew his head gasket with the same injectors! I now have 191,000 and love the power. But it is still hard to keep my foot off that right-side pedal.

I have an 01 with 187,000. Read my sig, truck is strong as when I started. If the motor has not been abused you should be fine. ;)

As everyone else says, you're just getting started. Unless you're worried about EGTs with a stock charger because you tow or haul, I'd really consider more of an injector than the 275s. They're nice with an EZ and will make the truck fun to drive, but if you're going to go to the trouble of swapping out injectors, there are real nice 80-100HP sticks on the market. All depends on what you want out of the truck I guess. Did you swap the 6 spd in yourself?
