Too low of EGT ?

Was wondering after a trip this weekend to Moab what is too low of an EGT. At what point does cylinder washing become a concern? Had a concern on a 4 low 1st gear descent egts had trouble staying above 225 post turbo. Went as low as 186. Anybody know what the low threashold limit is on these beasts.

Where is your pyro sender mounted? Pre or post?



Oops, didn't read your post carefully the first time. For post turbo going downhill, I would say it is about right.

When I do serious 4-wheelin, my truck will spend hours in low-range in 2nd or 3rd gear. I pretty much am at idle for hours on end. After a while my truck will start to smoke and load up because of the 370 injectors. People behind me hate me. :--)



I rev it with the clutch in few times to clear out all the unburned fuel. It helps keep the mosquito population down.

You stated '225 psot turbo'... You can shed up to 300* in the turbo itself. To know the real EGT you'd have to measure pre- turbo.
