when does 5.0 liters become MAMOUTH???????

Found a fix for 6L

I find myself promoting diesels almost daily. I tell everyone about the fuel mileage and the longevity. I tell fellow dieselers about the power uprates. It blows most of their minds. I notice more and more that a lot of these guys are somewhat informed. It makes me happy.

I was speaking today with a man that has a 1984 ford 300. I own a truck almost identical to his. His is a year newer than mine. I had to stifle a chuckle more than once while he told me about all the torque his engine made and how it would outpull a cummins any day. I tried to explain that just because a stock diesel aint quick dont mean its a slouch. Well he wouldnt hear it so I dropped it. I hope someday I may open his eyes to true power.

Do you guys run acrossed people who have never seen the true power of a diesel? It astounds me sometimes that someone wouldnt know. How many ford300s you see cruising the interstate with an 18k 5ver? Its a strong motor dont get me wrong but it makes no more torque than a 302 v8. A cummins makes more torque at 800rpm than a 300 makes peak. Im not disrespecting the 300 as it is one of my alltime favorite engines but get real outpull a cummins.

I had a '86 f-150 with the 300 and 2. 73 gears. 4 on the floor. Was my first truck... . Now it sure cant outpull a Cummins... . but if ya just compare it to gas motors... . welll I'll take it anyday. :D

Gotta keep apples with apples... . and sledgehammers with sledgehammers you know... ... doesnt help when the gas apples get smashed Gallagher (sp?) style by our diesel sledgehammers. :p

Speaking of which... its been ages since I've seen that show.

;)

All the ricers. Saw in a mag. that they have turbo kits (belt driven like a blower) for the Ford Focus. :-laf Oh brother! :-laf

I once had a van with a 300, kept it a long time, rebuilt the motor once, and covered all the western states in it. No way was it in a CTD class but I loved it. It is still around town, must have half a million miles on it.

I used to work for a guy that had a 84 150 300 4 speed. He told ford it needed a strong hitch on it and they guarenteed he would not hurt the factory bumper pulling with it. They put 2-3 bumpers on before buying him a real hitch. :-laf :-laf

I have grossed over 24,000 many many times. It would pull it fine, just slow. It went almost 100k on the first motor and the first rebuilt motor. Then shy of 200k it got a used 300 industrial out of a Ford combine. It was on its last leg when the third rear went out.

The half ton rears would not hold up:rolleyes: so it got a Dana 60 under it. We used to always laugh when a trailer was jacked down on it, the back would go down untill the home brewed dump truck overloads touched then the front started up. The heavier the load the higher the front was in the air.
