I think thats what my prob is too, to high of egt for to long.

When you add the breather to the top, do you plug the lower?? wouldnt it still spew oil at high rpm if you dont???

Do you cap off the lower one when adding a breather up top?

Heres my idea:

Get a valve cover with an oil filler cap, then put the 24 Valve Cummins breather in the place of the oil filler cap.

How does that sound?

Or get the two in one, breather and oil fill cap. Two in one breather is Cummins part number 3944797. Dodge stock 24V breather hose is Cummins part number 3937372. You reuse your old oil fill tube. All the crankcase breathing and add oil as fast as you like during oil changes. Adding oil via a valve cover/pushrod holes is slow!

A thread with correct engine serial number and info both style breathers: https://www.turbodieselregister.com/forums/showthread.php?t=151433&highlight=breather
