When I bought my truck in 08 I always thought there was too much engine noise in the cab compared to my 04. 5 and my 01. It's almost like there is a vent open between the engine compartment and the passenger side of the dash. I just had someone who works on Dodges ride with me and agree that it sounded louder than it should.

I think my truck had the recirculation door issue repaired by a dealership prior to me buying it.

Question: Is there any kind of cabin filter there or some kind of seal or flap or anything that could be missing (or misaligned) in that area? Does anyone have some photos of the passenger side dash/firewall area torn apart?

Thanks!

I agree. I have noise coming up from the dash, bouncing off the windshield. It is just engine noise. I can change the tone by covering up the spot on the dash. It seems to come up from heater vent????

Scooby, you are not crazy... LOL

There is a plastic adapter that fills the gap between the firewall and the recirc housing. It stays in place well normally. I did run into a truck that had that piece missing. It would allow air flow(and noise) from the plenum into the cab.
