Cummins Re-Power

Really, Really big diesel!!!

driving a $117,000 diesel. OK so it was a Hummer not a CTD. Bravo Hummers in El Paso let us use an H1 in our little hometown 4th of July parade and I got to drive it! After unhooking the trailer, the dealer rep said "If you to play, go ahead. " I wanted and did! That all wheel drive is nearly impossible to put into a slide, even on loose gravel. Had a great time trying though. Get to drive the H2 in the morning.

For the life of me... I could never understand why the US Military would go with 6. 5's. Whats the point? Was it all about cost over the long run? It obviously wasn't about the best choice available. Or perhaps simply because AM General wanted a GM motor. Whatever the reason, I'd like to have one with a CTD or a 8. 1L Gas V8 instead... or a V-10 or anything but the 6. 5.

Nonetheless... H1's are the ultimate vehicle to me. Too bad cost puts them a little out of range. I wouldn't want an H2. Kinda like driving a Chevette instead of a Corvette. :)
