I just put a #10 plate in along with the 3k gsk. My truck now has quite a bit of smoke when cold (unburned fuel) It didn't smoke much before. It also tends to have a stutter when the truck is returning to idle. This happens around 1000rpm or so. The idle may not be quite as smooth as before. I have the timing set to 15. 5. The truck runs strong ~35psi of boost. I am quite pleased with the power and throttle response but not the smoke and blip in the idle. The truck @ 65mph is ~600 degrees on the pyro and 5psi of boost. I hope someone can shed some light on the situation. Also I have to crank my truck over longer to get it to start.

The smoke you're talking about (white smoke I assume) is normal. As for the "studder", I don't know. Where is your idle set at? It may be too low. Easy fix if that's the problem.

GSK to tight

I believe it is pretty common for 215hp engines to develop an idle bounce or stutter after installing GSKs. This might not be noticable in warmer weather or climates but is a pain in cold climates.

Here is reading to help with GSK settings as it relates to idle stumble https://www.turbodieselregister.com/forums/showthread.php?t=123541&highlight=Idle+bounce

I get alot of smoke at startup (cold) also, but I have slightlt lower compression. I think the GSK could be related to that. The plate should have no affect. Position and settings of the AFC can have an affect.
