Ok so we all go out and buy these trucks and then sit around trying to figure out how to fool or restrict the wastegate function of our turbos. Why would you not just get a non-wastegated housing and run it ? Could you over pressurise the intercooler system without a wastegate?

You could push the turbo so far out of its efficient operating range, that it wouldnt help you in anyway and could possibly break the turbo.

At least thats what I've heard.

C4L is right on target. Each turbo has a range of optimal efficiency ranges for boost pressure. If you run non-wastegated or disable the wastegate, then you could, under certain conditions, get your turbo spinning so fast, and making boost higher than it can efficiently make, then the turbo is actually heating up that charge air too much and when it gets into your cylinders, you are actually loosing power because of it.

If a turbo is wastegated, the wastegate is usually set at the high end of the turbo's efficiency range. Usually... .....

Now if you are running multi turbos..... you need a new theory ;)
