I picked up my new truck yesterday. I am extremely happy with overall fit finish at this time. Somethings that i need to get used to as a new diesel owner:

The auto transmission seems to shift alot more than my old gas truck. Can someone help me understand this?

I have noticed a "shutter" under moderate acceleration, slightly wet road turning. Is this limited slip? wheel hop?

And of course just getting used to all of the controls and locations of. Again I am thrilled to be driving this truck.

What have other 600 owners been reading on the Overhead Console for miles per gallon with 70 miles on the truck?

When I got my truck, the tank was somewhere near full but I don't know if the computer had been reset or not. For the balance of that first tank, I was showing about 12. I went on a trip out of town. While at my destination, I filled up, (got a decent price of $1. 48/gal), and drove about 300 miles on the super slab and was showing about 14. 6 when I got home. My normal daily commute is very hard on any mileage and it is showing a drop each day. Not much good info here but it is where I am at this time. I do hope it will show improvement and I believe it will with a few more miles.

I forgot to add, I really love this truck. The fit and finish is all I could want, no wind noise above what you would expect, the creature comforts are REAL nice especially the dual temp control.

I also have a slight shudder on launch but that seems to already be getting less or I am already getting use to it. Some on here have ventured that it could be the diff getting used to itself and many have indicated it seems to disappear or at least get so low it is lost in the 'noise'. It is still early but I am VERY happy with mine.

Congratulations! After a long wait and following each others orders you finally got it. After about 900 miles, my milage has been 13. 5 to 14. 8 mpg in the worst of short trip, numerous cold start conditions. I'm running about 20 miles per cold weather start, so this has got to make the milage suffer. Also I noticed a slight shudder when starting out and making a turn, figured this is the limited slip doing its normal thing. And on your concern about the auto shifting a lot don't forget that on the auto trans you will feel the torque converter lock up in both 3rd and 4th gear in addition to the shifts.

Overall I am very pleased with everything on my truck, just hope to see better milage in warm weather and highyway conditions versus "city" driving. My 2001 6speed Dually that I had previous would get the same winter milage 13-15mpg. In the summer and on a trip it would go to 18-19mpg. Just ordered a PA personalized plate "OIL BRNR"

Regards,

Charlie
