Tool Explanations...

Grease Gun Question

Finally had a chance to snap a pic of my tool box and tool cart.

This is the second set of tools after my first set was stolen.

What's a spring loaded caster?
Probably a bad choice of words but thats what I call it anyway. It gives the caster suspension with the use of a heavy coil spring like what is on this box and Partsman's-

On a solid mount caster with a super heavy box when you roll it around and hit a bad spot in the concrete it can cave in the bottom of the box.

Casters with springs....

... are also nice if your shop doesn't have a truly level floor. No wobbling, the drawers work perfect, and the box actually locks---ask the Cornwell box guys about that one. :-laf

I'll get a pick of my box here soon (KRL1003 Royal Blue)..... covered in junk, stuffed in a corner. :(

yep... when draging my box around the shop, the swivel casters now almost touch the bottom of my box the bottom is colaplsed so badly. most of the major bending happened a few days back. was pushing it fast [was time to go home and i wasn't going to get paid overtime :(] and caught a missing concrete chunk and lifted the swivel end about 12" off the ground. i had to pull back real hard to keep it from going over and when it landed back on the swivels, oh it felt bad. . oh well. . a new tool box is on order awaiting approval from management. [gray #92213 or westward equal [westward box is identical except for lock type, and pull handle color]]

Mine is liek Partsmans, except a stainless top. Also, I am a machinist, with snap-on hand tools and starrett mach. tools. I calculated my receipts and I stopped at $16,500. Still had a good handful left too. . :{ :--)

 Thats like a GT-350 in a barn behind the hay bales! You gotta dig her out!!

LOL!

I really don't need a box that big anymore, and have thought about selling it, but it's paid for and with the price of the new ones I can't justify getting rid of it and buying something 1/2 the size.

I'd like to have a big Matco, those things are tanks.

I thought the same when I got my toolbox, and now I regret not getting the 2 middle full size drawers... or even a bigger toolbox cause it's pretty much full.

I'm not a line mechanic anymore so one great big huge box isn't necessary, but at the same time 3 or 4 1003's, or whatever they are called now--1023 I believe--would be more along the lines of what I'd get, or perhaps even the nice industrial workstations, as opposed to buying the top box, two side lockers, etc... ... ever seen the 1024? Oo.

Gotta use all that wasted space under the workbench; why not fill it with drawers? :D

I *hate* tall tool boxes.

MY new box is sitting in brandon's garage, he just needs to empty his junk out of it and drop it off at my house :D Im just worried it doesn't have enough space. i have this disease that will not allow me to only buy the tool i need. I have to buy the whole set or i might die. :p

Here's how it works: If you don't buy it you'll for sure need it in a few days; if you do buy it you won't need it maybe ever.

i have needed a tool badly that i had my hands on thinking about buying on the snap on truck as little as a half hour after it's left, now that's annoying

wdixon27, i love your sig. i almost spit my lunch all over the monitor when i read that.
Ok, I will be the first to aks. . why is his sig so funny? I think yours is better. Reminds me of a fella I knew that worked in a tire shop always hitting his head on the hoist, his dad nick named him rubberhead!

On Saturday I went shopping for a new roller cabinet for my home shop. I first looked at Sears, but I just couldn't afford any of their larger Craftsman cabinets. I ended up at Harbor Freight and bought their 13-drawer cabinet on sale for $399 (normally $499).

It was made in China, but I'm amazed at how well it is built and how much it weighs at 300#. The drawers have ball bearing slides and glide smoothly under load, and the powdercoat finish is pretty decent.

I really wanted to buy American, and would have settled for a used cabinet if I could have found a decent one. In this case I had to vote with my pocketbook regardless of where it was made.

no, no not his name, in his sig line, it says if you build a man a fire it will warm him for a day, if you set a man on fire it will warm him for the rest of his life. i just think its hillarious.
