5th wheel hitch

do any of you guys have a across the bed type toolbox on your trucks? Does it cause any problems towing a fifth-wheel? I have a long bed truck, and don't think there would be any problem but thought I would ask some of the "experts". Thanks for the input.

I have the model 664 from Weatherguard shown on this page and it works great. I don't think I would trust having a saddle box as the 5er could hit it. I some members do have them though. I also like that the one I have is flush with the top of the box. Looks nice. You do loose about 18" of floor space, but then with the 5er hitch installed, you loose the whole bed anyway.

5th wheel toolbox

I got both of mine from Highway Products. I have had them for almost two years. Excellent workmanship, can not beat the hardware and they also come with interior lighting, slide tray and

a rack for spray lube oil cans etc. I have had Wethergaurd in the past and IMO Highway Products are better. They also had free shipping when I purchased mine. They are located @www.800toolbox.com

FWIW I would hook up to the trailer and then go to a large parking lot and jack-knife the trailer by backing it up. You might be suprised how close the front corner of the 5er comes to your cab.

After doing this I rule out a standard bed rail mount, they stand up to tall IMHO.

UWS makes a bed rail mount that only comes an inch above the bed rail, that's what I'm thinking about now, still leaves a small amount of full bed floor space below the toll box for hauling lumber etc.

Good luck! :D

I've got the same box as Klenger, however I don't pull a 5ver. I still like the box, because most of the time folks can't even see it. What little thieves can't see, they can't get shot for trying to steal.

All joking aside, its a good quality box with plenty of storage room. If I were to ever buy another truck I would keep this box, if it fit, and would not have holes in the bed rails to devalue it.
