SOUTH HILL RV in PUYALLUP, WA

Delta L-shaped fuel tank and fifth wheel hitch

Like the title says, I am looking for ideas and pictures of toolboxes in shortbed trucks that are running the B&W Companion Hitch. I really need one for putting all that "stuff" in. I am not interested in one that sits on top of the bed side rails. Looking for something close to flush mount. It doesnt seem as though there is enough room between the bed wall and the base of the Companion for a traditional bedbox.
Also, not interested in anything plastic...
Thanks in advance!.

I have been using a plastic "truck trunk". It's about 2'X2'X4' and lockable (padlock). I do not mount it to the bed, but with the bed mat it stays put under normal driving. I have both a locking tailgate and a roll up tonneau and feel that even though its not "theft proof" it keeps everything out of sight. The box with everything in it is heavy enough that nobody is going to be able to run off with it. This makes it easy to remove and replace and move around to fit different size loads.

You can always buy one of these!

Contact Highway Products they make top quality tool boxes. The one I have for my long bed with companion is bed height and 30" front to back. I am sure they can help you.

Wow, look like pretty nice units, I sent them an emaila s I could not find pricing info. Thanks!

There is/was a heavy equipment rental business that also had a fab shop here locally that would make custom diamond plate aluminum boxes and such. I noticed that they were having a huge auction on Thursday at thier location on my way home from work. I'm not sure if they are going out of business or if they were just liquidating the rental side of their company. I'd be willing to check next week if they are still in business if you would like.

On edit: Here is a link to their site.

If I read the auction site correctly, they are only closing the rental side of the business. The parts and fab shops are still open.

Excellent product and very good after the sale service which I needed only one time. I sold my Highway Products box in 2003 after owning it for over 10 years and it never leaked.

I can't seem to find the old photo library, but my solution on my '03 shortbed was a 12" deep (front-to-back) cross-bed box sized for a Dakota. The narrow profile didn't eat into the hitch space, and the short width (rail-to-rail) allowed me to fab brackets and hang it *between* the rails, so it sat flush at the top (and still didn't sit on the bed floor).

I've posted the pictures on her before, but you'd have to search back to 2003 to find them (if they're still hosted).
