It is obvious that Montana does not want to happen there what has already happened to several states near Nancy Pelosi's hometown. lol

Aha, a place to look over the fence and see Alaska without having to cross Canada and feeling naked. Sounds like my kind of place, and full of nutcases that I tend to identify with.

Seriously, several of my close friends that live here have bought land in the middle of Nowhere, MT and love it.

They didn't mention the traffic jams.
Last time I was there anywhere you looked with binoculars you could see a car or truck. If you looked long enough.

Last time I was in Montana (nigh on 30 year ago), eastbound on 90/94 at a very high rate of fuel consumption (trooper said it took him five miles to catch up to me), it cost me $50 to find out that 80 MPH had always been the limit of 'reasonable and proper'. He probably only caught up to me because I had to slow down for the heavy rush-minute traffic; I think it was in that densely populated region west of Miles City. But I made it from Spokane to Glendive in about 10 hours.

I didn't look at the link, Penny and I have been up all night helping first year Heifers bring their calves into the world.

But If I were from ANYPLACE!! other than Montana. I wouldn't come to this place it REALLY SUCKS!!!, the people are decent, the laws and people that enforce them are fair, the prices of goods are below the norm, The mountains are some of the best in the Rockies, the hunting is by my standards WAY ABOVE the rest, Who would want to catch 17" trout from a river at the back border of our property, The beer I make is the best, because of the clear, clean, pure water,
its SO BAD that Obama hasn't came here that I can remember, but of course what I have been looking at putting my arm clear up to my shoulder in LOOKS VERY MUCH LIKE THE PICTURES OF HIM I HAVE SEEN

SO TAKE THIS AS A WARNING YOU DON'T WANT TO COME TO A TOILET LIKE MONTANA, DO YOURSELF A FAVOR AND

.......................STAY AWAY!!!!

PS: I will look at the link in awhile when my eyes will focus properly, I wouldn't want to misspell anything or misconstrue what was said about this wonderful place. ;)

I went there on the train on a ski trip to Whitefish and married the gal I met in the dinning car. Chased her around the mountain all week and back to Seattle 34 years ago!!!!! We though about going back a few years ago for our 30th anniversary, but heard they have lift lines now!

Now that I have taken a shower, gotten some food, and have had a cup of coffee that hasn't been boiling all night long, I see in the link that someone has the same idea of humor as I do. I would like to tell you that the following statements are made by a guy that at least two other Montana's on this site said IM NOT LIKE OTHER MONTANA'S.

Thinking about that at a very slow pace,(common in MT) I have come to the conclusion that at least one of the guy's that said that lives in a BIG CITY as BIG CITY'S go in MT and I cant remember and REALLY dont care where the other guy that said that lives because BOTH of them are entitled to their opinion as wrong as I have been told it is.

Within the larger city's they are correct in saying that im not a true Montanan, The city's are just like the others all over the country. Drugs, Alcoholism, Prostitution, Bums ,Crimes of all kinds abound. Montana is not a utopia that some think it is, If I had to live in one of the Larger City's I WOULD NOT!! When we decided to RETIRE here it was because of the lifestyle OUTSIDE THE CITY'S that attracted at least me, Penny was born and raised here she knew what it was like. Before leaving with me to reside in Calif, she had lived in a town with a population back then of 500 people, her High School Graduation Class was 12 people. She went to the University of Montana in Missoula and hated her life there, People (her words) were just as Plastic as they are anyplace else and in some case's MUCH WORSE!!

Just because a person lives in MT and wears western wear they seem to think that makes them some sort of Cowboy. I know I have said that I enjoy living in the dream state of a Cowboy lifestyle. I Don't have any hallucination that makes me think that I could really fill the boots of a long ago Cowboy, and for the most part I don't wear Crap that isn't practical around the Farm, Ranch, Homestead take your pick.

We get (we call them Flat Lander's) that come up from the city and are some of the most dangerous people We have ever witnessed. Giving their children a piece of bread and telling them to feed this to the bear so Mommy and Daddy can take your picture. Getting lost in the wilderness is a given on any day hike. Don't know how many times we have had people walk thru the property lost as Hell and miles away from their car, no water, no food, no NOTHING!! and the trail that they were hiking on is an abandon FIRE ROAD!!! How in hell do you get lost on that!!!! Sometimes (only if Children are involved) we will give them a ride to their car. I make it a habit of looking at the car license plate, Most of them are MONTANA PLATES!! I have given up on helping the adults. The main reason for this behavior of mine is that we need to stop the STUPID GENE POOL SOMEPLACE!! What better place to start but at the top without children to pass on their ignorance.

On the other side of the view of MT, It is a Fantastic place we live in, its a slow pace life if it don't get done today, there's always NEXT YEAR!!. The people are considerate of others, there's no wondering of why did that man open the door for me? is he going to rob me? rape me?. Lots of the time when we go to OUR little town, I see someone driving on the other side of the road we stop in the middle and talk for awhile, others don't come and honk their horn and yell some nasty crap about getting the hell to the side of the road, THEY GO AROUND AND SAY HELLO When the do. Our Sheriff is ONE OF US!! He and his wife a Grocery store clerk were over last night helping us deliver calves, the price for this kind of help was a handshake and thanks Pard, and I gave Maggie a kiss on the cheek and a song, but she carries a 45 ACP Smith and is pretty frigging good with it. Im sure that my fellow Want-to-be Cowboys will collect enough free beers to more than pay for their help, Or until the next time one of them needs to get some beef to put in the freezer and my FIL points to one in the pasture and forgets about them taking it for a few years or until the next time they need some more!! It was a real sad thing to have the state hwy crew plow our drive way all the way to the house in winter, when I was laid up with a bum leg problem, that cost was a coffee pot and a 55 gal drum fire and if Penny remembered she would make some sweet rolls for them so they could have the shop saftey meeting every day before shift change at our driveway and take our snow off to dump it someplace out of the way.

The winter ARE long and they ARE cold but if I didn't like that I should have Retired in FL or stayed in Calif (I was just joking about Calif) Its just part of living here. The summers are blistering hot last year it go up to 92* for an hour and a half!!! Man I almost melted on that one. Fall is not like Mikes place in Maine but we have some color, and its one of the best parts of the year for me anyway, Hunting Season. Instead of loading up the 4x4 and driving to hunt, we have to load up the Mules and ride out the back to the hunting. I do have to say that I REALLY dislike the Spring OR Mud season, it truly sucks for a month or so BTJMO

We have made friends from many places in MT, some on a mountain trail, some in a stockyard, some in a hospital that have become family when they got out, funny that one might not count Roger and His family his son Danny is more like a Son to me we are best of Pards, they are from Louisiana, Mississippi border so I can safely assume that they to are not like Most Montanan's either.

So ya!! im NOT like some Montana people and DAMN GLAD OF IT, Our **** stinks, We say hello and whats been going on stay around and are actually interested in what they have to say.

What is it that happened to have this thread start in the first place, if it don't happen here im not usually to concerned with it, unless the hunting fee's are going up or maybe if they are going to have sales tax on my homemade beer fix-ins would rile me up a bit #@$%!

Hi Gentlemen

I have been getting things ready so when Gail comes in from another all-night calf pulling night he can catch up on some of the things said on this site and several others he scribes to. I took it upon myself when I noticed this one in an Email response. I read what Gail had said about Montana and being a Cowboy. Here is an article that came in a Magazine that he gets, the article and subscriber responses seem to be saying the way Gail lives his life makes him a Cowboy. Im sure many of you are much the same way, you don't have to ride a horse, step in **** to be a Cowboy its all in the way you live.

Besides taking the night shift on the calf birthing duties during the day he works on our Daughters home, and a Giant hay storage barn for my Father. I don't think that anyone can call him lazy.

Found a few songs that he likes also, he sings these around the campfire in hunt camp, I think he lives this

I love Montana and Idaho (except the winters). Great people and a lot more common sense compares to my home state. With that being said visiting with CA plates some people immediately lump me into the group of communist liberals that have taken control of my state. Don't like their attitude but try to let it roll of my back, smile and nod. Next year my wife and I a planning a extended RV trip through the great western states.

Sam I don't know about just Montana being a place that has a problem with Californians, Personally in our town we like folks from all the states to visit. Our towns economy is quite frankly relying on your Vacation Dollar, hunting dollar, food buying, hotel or camping fees, fuel buying, if you get a chance Google Earth and take a look at Seeley lake MT. its not a Mega Metropolis by any stretch of the imagination. Hwy 83 is a Montana Scenic Hwy, the spender of the surrounding forests are the reason people come here.

Very few times have I seen anyone go out of their way to make a group from another state feel bad about where they come from.

With that said I have seen a family come in to the Gas and Go and open the door to the family car and their dog came running out and attacked a guy on his horse, the problem was promptly taken care of by the horse rider with the shooting of the dog. The dog owner came unglued and should really think about what he was threatening to do to the horse rider. This is a Carry State and if someone starts making threatening remarks and pulls out their child's baseball bat A PERSON MIGHT WANT TO GIVE PAUSE!! to this action

Another time in my SIL's cafe a group of guys came in to eat, wanted some hot salsa for their meal. Complained about my SIL's mild salsa and talked ugly about her and her food. She gave them ALL NEW dishes of food and said she was sorry for the inconvenience, when she brought out the food she also brought out a salsa and a waiver for them to sign, stating that she is not responsible for anything happening from the Hot Salsa, He signed it laughing that he wanted it so hot he could light his cigarette off of one of his Farts. When he dumped the salsa on his food and started to eat it, it took about a minute until his mouth was on fire from the HOT AS LAVA salsa, I took a cigarette from a Pard and asked him for a light, I asked him HOT ENOUGH FOR YA PEEDROO. SIL gave him a small glass of olive oil and a full glass of Buttermilk and said drink that and get the hell out AH!!

I don't think people from any other place would have acted any different, Maybe the shooting but the other choice would have been a good A** Kicking instead. It wasn't that long ago that we were in YOUR state and I was bullied by a couple of Californians, they got what they would have gotten here a good A** kicking.
So ya!! if tourist from any state wants to come and back someone into a corner or some other ugly thing. YOUR MORE THAN LIKELY GOING TO BE TALKED ABOUT UNFAVORABLY!!
