Now that I have taken a shower, gotten some food, and have had a cup of coffee that hasn't been boiling all night long, I see in the link that someone has the same idea of humor as I do. I would like to tell you that the following statements are made by a guy that at least two other Montana's on this site said IM NOT LIKE OTHER MONTANA'S.
Thinking about that at a very slow pace,(common in MT) I have come to the conclusion that at least one of the guy's that said that lives in a BIG CITY as BIG CITY'S go in MT and I cant remember and REALLY dont care where the other guy that said that lives because BOTH of them are entitled to their opinion as wrong as I have been told it is.
Within the larger city's they are correct in saying that im not a true Montanan, The city's are just like the others all over the country. Drugs, Alcoholism, Prostitution, Bums ,Crimes of all kinds abound. Montana is not a utopia that some think it is, If I had to live in one of the Larger City's I WOULD NOT!! When we decided to RETIRE here it was because of the lifestyle OUTSIDE THE CITY'S that attracted at least me, Penny was born and raised here she knew what it was like. Before leaving with me to reside in Calif, she had lived in a town with a population back then of 500 people, her High School Graduation Class was 12 people. She went to the University of Montana in Missoula and hated her life there, People (her words) were just as Plastic as they are anyplace else and in some case's MUCH WORSE!!
Just because a person lives in MT and wears western wear they seem to think that makes them some sort of Cowboy. I know I have said that I enjoy living in the dream state of a Cowboy lifestyle. I Don't have any hallucination that makes me think that I could really fill the boots of a long ago Cowboy, and for the most part I don't wear Crap that isn't practical around the Farm, Ranch, Homestead take your pick.
We get (we call them Flat Lander's) that come up from the city and are some of the most dangerous people We have ever witnessed. Giving their children a piece of bread and telling them to feed this to the bear so Mommy and Daddy can take your picture. Getting lost in the wilderness is a given on any day hike. Don't know how many times we have had people walk thru the property lost as Hell and miles away from their car, no water, no food, no NOTHING!! and the trail that they were hiking on is an abandon FIRE ROAD!!! How in hell do you get lost on that!!!! Sometimes (only if Children are involved) we will give them a ride to their car. I make it a habit of looking at the car license plate, Most of them are MONTANA PLATES!! I have given up on helping the adults. The main reason for this behavior of mine is that we need to stop the STUPID GENE POOL SOMEPLACE!! What better place to start but at the top without children to pass on their ignorance.
On the other side of the view of MT, It is a Fantastic place we live in, its a slow pace life if it don't get done today, there's always NEXT YEAR!!. The people are considerate of others, there's no wondering of why did that man open the door for me? is he going to rob me? rape me?. Lots of the time when we go to OUR little town, I see someone driving on the other side of the road we stop in the middle and talk for awhile, others don't come and honk their horn and yell some nasty crap about getting the hell to the side of the road, THEY GO AROUND AND SAY HELLO When the do. Our Sheriff is ONE OF US!! He and his wife a Grocery store clerk were over last night helping us deliver calves, the price for this kind of help was a handshake and thanks Pard, and I gave Maggie a kiss on the cheek and a song, but she carries a 45 ACP Smith and is pretty frigging good with it. Im sure that my fellow Want-to-be Cowboys will collect enough free beers to more than pay for their help, Or until the next time one of them needs to get some beef to put in the freezer and my FIL points to one in the pasture and forgets about them taking it for a few years or until the next time they need some more!! It was a real sad thing to have the state hwy crew plow our drive way all the way to the house in winter, when I was laid up with a bum leg problem, that cost was a coffee pot and a 55 gal drum fire and if Penny remembered she would make some sweet rolls for them so they could have the shop saftey meeting every day before shift change at our driveway and take our snow off to dump it someplace out of the way.
The winter ARE long and they ARE cold but if I didn't like that I should have Retired in FL or stayed in Calif (I was just joking about Calif) Its just part of living here. The summers are blistering hot last year it go up to 92* for an hour and a half!!! Man I almost melted on that one. Fall is not like Mikes place in Maine but we have some color, and its one of the best parts of the year for me anyway, Hunting Season. Instead of loading up the 4x4 and driving to hunt, we have to load up the Mules and ride out the back to the hunting. I do have to say that I REALLY dislike the Spring OR Mud season, it truly sucks for a month or so BTJMO
We have made friends from many places in MT, some on a mountain trail, some in a stockyard, some in a hospital that have become family when they got out, funny that one might not count Roger and His family his son Danny is more like a Son to me we are best of Pards, they are from Louisiana, Mississippi border so I can safely assume that they to are not like Most Montanan's either.
So ya!! im NOT like some Montana people and DAMN GLAD OF IT, Our **** stinks, We say hello and whats been going on stay around and are actually interested in what they have to say.
What is it that happened to have this thread start in the first place, if it don't happen here im not usually to concerned with it, unless the hunting fee's are going up or maybe if they are going to have sales tax on my homemade beer fix-ins would rile me up a bit #@$%!
