I think the driveshaft tube failed first.

I told him the same thing until I saw the video. Looks like it broke in front first.

Has anyone ever tried to put the later transfer case (3rd gen) into their 2nd gen truck? The 271/273 models are quite a bit heavier and are rated for more torque. I wonder if it would be a simple swap? I've seen and heard of quite a few people cracking their case on a 2nd gen pulling with it.

I am buying a 271 case to replace the 241. I'm also getting some HEAVY driveshafts made.

For people who have long CC/QC long beds, what I did was take the front section of the rear driveshart, it already has 1410 yokes. Take the yoke from a Dana 70(1410) put it on your Dana 60. Then call Haisley machine, or your local 4x4 parts place might be able to help you get a 1410 yoke, and seal for the front output of the transfer case. Then measure your center to center distance, go to your local driveshaft place and have them remove the carrier bearing and shorten the shaft. Whole project cost me about $150, but I had a 1410 yoke for the 60 already.
