I took my 91 out to see just how fast it would run, it went flat at 90. I can remember back in the day when these trucks were towing trailers 80 mph down the Interstates. Is my governor set low or is that just about the upper limit? Sure glad I did not get caught! :)

That's probably about right. Mine did a little better at about 93 but I have 3. 54 gears.

I tweaked up the gov spring untill I could get to 100. :D

Guess I should add that mine is Intercooled and an auto w/OD, 3. 07 gear, according to the sticker under the hood. I wish it had a tach. . :) . . I just knew it would run 100, I was wrong again. . :) . . GGS

You can attain 100 easily by adjusting the gov (upper limit) adjusting screw. That's real simple to do. It will essentialy raise the de-fuel point of the pump. It's based on the internal speed of the pump via weights and several springs/levers and pump internal fuel psi

Check your linkage. It sounds like it isn't giving you full throttle. Mine will do 89 in third. I have the OD trans and 3:07's.

Good point Philip. If the pump has a ton of miles on it, it's possible to have the linkage very worn and not allow full fuel position.

Check the throttle lever ball joints and the break-over-spring. One or the other is bound to have a lot of wear to it and cause you to loose travel.

Maybe you will catch up with EC Jay and go 93.

It powered itself up there in fine fashion, less than 1/2 mile, which really surprised me. It really felt like it just laid down, like the gov caught it. I'll check that linkage. I am really enjoying the mileage though, it has been 22 to 24 at 68 mph. Thanks Guys! Glen
