I have been to 131 mph according to my GPS on a long straight freeway in Eastern Washington If I put in a set of 4,000 rpm valve springs, I should be able to get close to 145. Tires are the scarry part though.
It has been several years, but somewhere there was a thread about this. I seem to remember that the individual disabled an Orange with White Stripe wire which supposidly provided the speed input to the ECM. I think they did it with a simple toggle switch. What this does the to system overall, I am not sure. I do not remember what the thread was titled or who started it, hopfully some one will chime in. If you have the factory manual for your truck, you should be able to find the circuit and experiment.
Speed limiter is interesting. I have 285 size tires on my truck and the Abbott corrects for the tire size. When I did my speed run against the Mercedes and hit 131 mph, I was not speed limited, but was tached out at 3,300 rpm according to my Roadrelay. That was the wall for me. Now that I have the Smarty software for the ECM, I know I can up the speed, but I need to upgrade my valve springs and the tires for sure.
What are the guys doing in the competition forum that drag on a regular basis and getting into the 12's and 11's. I know Rip at Source Automotive has one of the faster trucks, he might be a good source of info for you to contact and ask questions about this subject.
