I have a 99 that is stock except for the K&N air filter and lift kit. Is there a reason why she won't run more than 85 mph? I've changed the fuel filter, check the throttle, and asked my friends. Any help is appreciated.

Just out of curiosity, what gear do you have? 3:54's I bet. Iwas in about the same shape as you around 6 mos. ago. See my sig. or profile for the changes thus far. No problem hitting 100 and then some. I haven't held it past around 112-113 yet.

Keep in mind, it's a very heavy truck moving a lot of air around. It probably wouldn't fair much if any better with a gasser and definitly wouldn't have the torque.

VMcelhose WELCOME TO THE TDR!!!!!!

Now that is out of the way, your truck should run at least 100 MPH. If it is a low powered sick pig with 4. 10 gears it will do 100 MPH, if it has 3. 5 gears it will do at least 115 if you have a mile to stand on it.

Bone stock my 99 would easily do 115 in less than a half mile... ... ... .

OOOPS, I see you have a lift kit, how high and how big are the tires?

I have 35" tires and without the pm3 I could hit 114 checked by gps. Haven't tried a new top speed run with the pm3. I have 3. 55 gears. The taller the tire the less rpm you should be running just remember at 2700 rpm it starts to defuel which is where i was at. Might want to check all your intercooler connections and exhaust bolts you might be losing boost.

3" lift, tires are 265/75R16, also 4. 10 gears

VMcelhose,

when the truck stops accelerating at 85mph, what rpm's are you at? is it redline? Does the power just drop off all at once or does it fade out slow? although I'm not an expert by any stretch, I'm not aware of a different speed limiter on the 99's. Have you checked your lift pump pressure?? Bad wheel speed sensor? I'm just throwing ideas out there. Just a heads up for a new member, alot of guys on this site have agreed the most valuable accessory you can get for your truck is a fuel pressure guage for the lift pump,

Just my $. 02

I'll second the fuel press. guage. In all honesty, the prob. could have been the lift pump. I never noticed mine was bad until I went to change the filter and it wouldn't't prime. I do think that the largest diff. obviously came from the EZ.
