Top Speed Run

What is the fastest you have seen your Dodge/Cummins run. Was it stock? If not, what mods were done.



I have seen mine up to 118 and slowly climbing.



What is the top end on the Ford and Chevys? Ford Lightning doesnt count.

Slightly over 100 mph at midnight on I-40 West of Needles with a California Highway Patrolman off my right bumper. True! I was the last guy in a 5 vehicle pack and Mr. CHP passed me and pulled over the NEXT guy in line... a Toyota Pickup. Sometimes there IS justice in the world! (It was brilliant psychological warfare)... I drove the next 2 hours at EXACTLY the speed limit always looking nervously in my mirrors to see if he was coming back after me!

12 Valvers are at a disadvantage here, with 3. 54's and 245 tires mine runs 110@3000, sounds and drives like a dream at that speed... ... . 12V's need 4k's to so this.

When I was last making top speed runs, I pegged my speedo at 120 and was on seeing 2700 rpms. She still had a lot of power left.

OK this may shock you so sit still. My old 92 with 4. 10 gears and a five speed could almost hit 80 MPH and that was going downhill. My 99 which also has 4. 10 and a five spd tops out around 92. I look at it this way, it keeps me out of trouble.

110-115, racing another stock CTD after work. A little fast for my taste on public roads. Truck seemed to have some left but I didn't.

'98 w/ 245's redline at 3000 at 95 mph. My bro has a y2k chev w/ the 8. 1 and allison and the motor shuts off at 100. My bro in-law has a 2001 f350 w/ a powerjoke and it too governs at 100. all above are stock except mines better!

Is there a limiter, or does this thing just run out of power at that speed?

Some have limiters

When my truck was new it would top out at 116-118. Now that it is BOMBed with DD2s, van Aaken and 5", it still tops out at 118. Except now you can really feel it cut back starting around 112. From what I understand the limiters started on the 2000 models but not all of them seem to have it (?) . I have a 2001 ETH built Feb 2000.

Call me a chicken sheet, I'm too scared of the POlice. Plus I can't afford the fine + insurance hike. 95 mph while passing once, too afraid/broke to do more.

I had mine up to 80 once, then the flag pole flying the American Flag (4x6) snapped . I try to keep it under 70 so that I don't break any more poles.
