Top speed

Hello guys. I was wandering if a torque converter change will improve my top speed.

I am running a bone stock 97 4x4 SLT LB extra cab, Auto trans and 4:10:1 gears. I have 285/75 R16s.

My speedo tells me that I top out at 85MPH my friend with his (Found on road dead) says I am toping out at 92mph that is at 2800 rpm. I would like to get my rpms down a little with out changing gears.

You could switch to a 305-70r-16 tire. Get a gsk from piers and you'll go faster yet. Oo.

Your options are:



Bigger tires

or

Different gears



That's about it for lowering rpms.

Changing torque converters will have no effect on top speed rpm.



A 3000 RPM governor spring kit will allow to achieve a higher top speed but at a higher RPM.

Thanks for the Info it is help full. I just recived my 1st issue of TDR. I realy like the artical on the torque converters. I know that I will be nedding a new TC soon any way. Oo.
