Engine/Transmission (1994 - 1998) Top twin turbo vs. ATS manifold

Man, this is the 2nd time putting in a set of twins, and the same thing happened both times. I go to put the top turbo on (yes, I used a spacer) and the compressor housing hits the ATS manifold so the turbo won't sit flush on the flange (spacer, actually). I did a search on a couple sites and haven't found anyone else griping about this. I took a little material off the compressor housing, and I'm just now grinding quite a bit off the manifold (at the joint between the forward and middle sections. Just wondering if I'm the only unfortunate schmuck to encounter this. #@$%!

Well, not knowing what size upper turbo you are using, I would say, at this point, is to use a thicker spacer.

Be very, very cautious grinding on the manifold. If you make that slip joint too thin, it may go out-of-round and then you'll have an exhaust leak.

Anyone know who makes thicker spacers? That was my first thought. But it looks like I'd have to go to a machine shop and have one made. Then I'd have to compensate for it somehow to make the hot pipe line up.
