Just read on this form (alt. autos. dodge. trucks) that a number of people with 04 trucks are finding the rubber seal for the driver and passenger doors are tearing in the front. Apparently the rubber is thicker on the 04's. I went out and checked my truck and sure enough the rubber is torn where the upper front of the door contacts the rubber. Does any one else have this problem? I will be reporting this to the Dodge dealer where I bought my truck. My truck is an 04. 5 3500 quad cab 4x4 diesel with 2400 miles.

torn rubber seal

just take it to the dealer ( took mine in yesterday ) their is a tsb on it and they will get the part. takes less than 1/2 he to replace but my dealer will only replace the torn side

The TSB is 23-008-04. And yes I have the same problem. The part number in the TSB is superceded, as I was told, by another part number which they installed. The new molding looks like the the old molding. They also did a minor door adjustment. The door still hits the molding so we shall see if my problem has been fixed.

I had mine done months ago and while it is not ripping all the way through as it did before, the surface of the outer flap is torn away. It seems logical over time that it will tear through again, though it is going much slower now. Kind of disappointing.

Had mine replaced by dealer a couple monthes ago and just noticed it has ripped through again. If you take your vehicle in for the same problem three times do you still get a new one per the lemon law... Oo.

I noticed the other day my outer lip is torn nearly through, but the inner bigger tube is still doing ok. It also makes a rubber squeel when wet as you open the door or shut it and it pushes against that spot.

It was the squeeking sound when wet that caused me to inspect the old seal and find the damage. The replacement seal is a different design and the problem seems to be solved.
