For those of you with Automatics that are BOMBing a better torque converter should be up towards the top of your list, here's my story as posted in the products section and then I will make a few comments:

We were in Canada last weekend for a Poker Run with the boat, just after crossing the border started hearing strange sounds, got to the hotel and checked it out... . CRACKED FLEXPLATE

Have been wanting a DTT Torque converter so go to hotel lobby, borrow their computer, goto TDRlinks, get DTT's phone number, talk to Bill Kondolay decide to get 89% torque converter along with flex plate, get appointment for Monday AM,.

Truck fails completely on Sunday, have AAA tow the truck and boat to DTT on monday morning.

By the time the truck with us and the boat arrive at DTT our truck is on the rack and being worked on.

We were just going to hang out all day but Bill would hear nothing of it, gave me the keys to his personal truck and I took Vicki to lunch and shopping.

When we got back the truck was ready, Bill says hook it to your boat and let's go for a test drive, all I can say is WOW

Now I can get some of the power I've got to the ground, I think the converter made as much difference as the Powerwagon injectors.

Thanks again to all of Diesel Transmission Technologies employees for the great treatment and for getting us home on time.

It was a pleasure doing business with you.

I knew that a better converter would help but I am amazed at how much better it is. I don't have a Tach so I can't give you actual figures but the engine is turning quite a bit slower at speed than it did before, cruising down the highway is much quieter. I got on the freeway after coming back across the border put the truck in overdrive and didn't take it out until I was coming off the freeway near home, there are a few places in that trip I would have been slowed by the hills before so much that I would have taken the overdrive off, I can't believe how much power the stock converter was absorbing.

I can't speak for any other aftermarket converter but DTT's should definitly be on any BOMBers shopping list.

Sorry for the long post but I'm impressed.

Happy Rammin,

Caleb

Darn, you guys are going to cost me more money!:D I can see it coming now.

Has anyone done a before and after Dyno run on the same dyno to see what the actual difference is?

Not yet, but I will. .

Oh ya, I thought I'd slide that twins setup thing by you, but, I guess since you quit drugs ;) ;) ;) you caught me in the act... . rats..... shhhhhhh... don't tell nascar mark or I'll catch him sculking around my driveway late at night... the HP fiend... .

t/converter

what size boat do you haul. did bill just put in flexplate and converter or did he upgrade trans. and valvebody also? He told me he needed to inpsect the whole trans. and do both so it would hold up. planning on it in the future.

would be interested in feeling the difference, I live gig harbor so maybe we can connect sometime. Mine feels like there is an awful lot of slippage getting going unless you just stuff your foot all the way in right out of the gate. is that how yours was?

thanks cliff

cwienenga,

If I can just jump in here ahead of boatpuller... you will NOT believe the difference once the DTT system is in.

Now, this is only my opinion, and I am a bit biased (hard as I try not to be) but the DTT system works miracles for our trucks.

Also my opinion but if you are running less than 260-275RWHP then you're probably better off with the 89% TC. BUT... Bill would see to it that you get exactly what is right for YOU, not me.

If you plan to "hunt up" more HP in the future then talk to him about the 91% TC.

I am immensly pleased with my setup.

ps, sorry to butt in line boatpuller... ;)

What Bob said:D

I do need to mess with my pump now as I am getting a little more smoke than I care for at low RPMs, the converter doesn't allow the boost to build like before, now the truck moves instead of sitting there waiting for RPM's, also I didn't move my diaphram pin all the way yet, so there is more power to be had. :D :D

bluejay... . a long trip for you, but look in the events forum. on the 28th in Mass/RI border is a dyno meeting and on the 29th is the drags in NH. Scott of Mass Diesel will be at both events.
