Engine/Transmission (1998.5 - 2002) Torque converter lock/unlock kits

Trying to decide which kit I should purchase to reduce/stop the lock/unlock problems. TDR Issue 51 page 20 refers to kit by Diesel Transmission technologies. Issue 52 page 39 refers to a kit from Navone. There is a big difference in price for the kits. Need input from anyone who has experience with either kit.

i have DTT but ATS has a way on there web site that is free, just need to run a wire..... i have never tried it so i don't know if it works or how good it is

I have the DTT noise filter and it took care of the problem totally and immediately. Wish I would have found it sooner as I spent 400 on trans work at the dealer, which did not fix the problem, before finding the noise filter. I would have saved like 350!



My high idle/3 cylinder (which had been flashed twice before and never worked despite many times being cold enough) began to work after I put the noise filter on. I think due to the ECM "seeing" a clean signal at idle.

Recently I was having trouble with my trans going into and out of lockup repeatedly. Not only is it annoying, but it will kill the trans in short order. I replaced my 5 year old original batteries even though they seemed to be fine. Solved the problem. Remember, these trans are computer controled. If the input voltage is off, the computer gets confused!

I was having the same problem and used ATS's directions for the fix. IT WORKS! Took me about an hour total and most of that time was just making sure I had the correct wires. ... . Took it our for drive and ... !!!!

I installed the ATS fix about a month ago. I will be towing a heavy fifth wheel trailer this summer, which will be the real test.

It has been about 2 months since I replaced the batteries on my truck... everything continues to work fine. The truck cranked FINE!!! There were absolutely NO symptoms the batteries were dieing! Yet, new ones fixed the problem. I have to wonder how many guys have killed a trans just because of weak batteries?

Cleaning grounds and shielding alternator wires are the freebies. New batteries(when needed) replacing alternator or brushes sometimes work. Progess to the DTT or other electrical filter next. Also could be the internal transmission sensor or APPS on the more costly side of things!
